The first step in choosing a washing machine is narrowing down your choice is to decide whether you would prefer a front-loading washing machine or a top-loading washing machine.
Front-loaders work by turning your washing over and over in a tumbling action, repeatedly picking up and dropping your clothes into the water. Generally, front loaders tend to use less water and detergent and are gentler on clothes.
Top loaders either use agitators, which are devices that twist and turn your washing around, or impellers, which are raised discs that create turbulence in your wash water. Although top loaders tend to use more water than front loaders, they are generally cheaper to buy, weigh less and wash clothing faster.
