Afterpay FAQs
What is Afterpay?
Afterpay is a payment service that allows you to get what you need now and pay for it over four payments. Payments are interest free and charges are only incurred for late payments.
What do I need to use Afterpay?
To use Afterpay you will need to:
- Live in Australia;
- Be over 18 years of age;
- Have an Australian debit or credit card;
- Have a valid and verifiable email address and mobile number;
- Be capable of entering into a legally binding contract.
How does Afterpay work?
You can use Afterpay online or in-store.
Online: At the checkout, choose Afterpay as your payment method.
You’ll then be directed to the Afterpay website.
If it’s your first time using Afterpay, you’ll need to register. Then you’ll complete your purchase and receive a confirmation email from us, The Good Guys and Afterpay.
In store: If it’s your first time using Afterpay, simply get the Afterpay app, set up the Afterpay Card (you’ll need to follow the prompts to add it to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet), check your available spend and when you’re ready to pay activate the Afterpay Card and pay using Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Payment Schedules
New Afterpay Customer: If you are a new Afterpay customer, you will be required to make your first payment at the time of purchase. The remaining three payments will be deducted automatically each fortnight from your nominated card (unless you make voluntary payments).
Existing Afterpay Customer: Your first payment will be deducted two weeks after your purchase for orders under $500 or at the time of purchase if your order is over $500.

Do I have to make my first Afterpay payment on the purchase day?
Your payment schedule will depend on whether you are a first time Afterpay customer and how much you are spending.

What can I buy at The Good Guys with Afterpay?
You can use Afterpay at The Good Guys to purchase products up to a maximum of $1,000 (in total).
Look for the Afterpay logo on the product page to see if the product is eligible.
Some exclusions apply, such as agency brands (including Miele, ASKO, Portofino etc.), Gift cards and ePay purchases.
Can I shop in store using Afterpay?
Yes, you can. Simply get the Afterpay app, set up the Afterpay Card (you’ll need to follow the prompts to add it to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet), check your available spend and when you’re ready to pay activate the Afterpay Card and pay using Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Is Afterpay really ‘free’?
As long as you pay on time, Afterpay is a free service. However, if you miss a payment, Afterpay will charge a late fee that starts at $10 and is capped at 25% of the purchase price or $68 (whichever is less).
