Product fair, specific spare parts not available
The power of the machine is more than expected, satisfied with power of machine. However, coupling hose to machine is a pain. Have arthritis, difficult to connect and disconnect. Specific spare pare, a rubber
then I will give then credit where it's due.

This is a little ripper
A great budget vacuum cleaner which performs well. Though it works well, the downside is that it needs a little more attention to maintenance than one which has a bag collection system. With good care, this is a work horse! I work as a cleaner and carry it around to various houses, and it is robust enough for this purpose. This is the second one purchased, and with usage almost every work day, it has lasted really well!

Strong suction vacuum
This is a good vacuum, does the job. Only downside is that the hose kinks right at the base which is really annoying. The hose quality is not that good, everything else is fine

I liked it so much I bought two!
This is the best vacuum I've ever used, with incredible suction. I bought one for work and liked it so much, that I bought another for home and my wife also thinks it's the best vacuum she's ever used. The suction is so strong that it takes less effort and is quicker to produce a spotless result. The canister is easy to empty as well.

At a glance
The Vax Pet Pro Bagless Vacuum is a powerful barrel vacuum suited to pet owners who want strong pickup across carpets, hard floors and furniture. Its 2400W motor, 400AW suction, 4L bin and pet-focused tools make whole-home cleaning easier. The long cord and hose improve reach for stairs and larger rooms. The trade-off is that it is heavier and less compact than lighter entry models.
What it’s great for
- Pet hair removal
- Whole-home vacuuming
- Carpet cleaning
- Hard floor cleaning
- Upholstery cleaning
- Stairs and furniture
Where it works best
- Pet-friendly homes
- Medium to large homes
- Carpeted living areas
- Hard floor kitchens and hallways
- Multi-room homes
Who it’s for
- Pet owners
- Families
- Homeowners
- Renters with pets
- Multi-surface households
Things to consider
At 6.3 kg, it is not as light or as easy to carry as smaller barrel vacuums, so users wanting a very compact or low-effort option may prefer a lighter model.
Pet hair performance score
9/10 - strong suction and included Turbo Brush and upholstery tool make it well suited to picking up pet hair from floors and furniture.
Large home suitability
8/10 - the 8m cord, 2.5m hose and 4L capacity support longer cleaning sessions across several rooms.
Carpet vs hard floor fit
Well suited to both carpets and hard floors, with dedicated tools for each surface type.
Noise level rating
6/10 - likely noticeable in use given the 2400W motor, but exact noise output is not specified.
Portability rating
6/10 - barrel design and long hose help with reach, but the 6.3 kg weight makes it less nimble than lighter compact vacuums.
Key benefits
- 2400W Motor: Delivers strong cleaning power for lifting dust, debris and pet hair from floors and furnishings.
- 400AW Suction: Provides high suction performance for more confident pickup on carpets and rugs.
- 4L Bagless Bin: Lets you clean more before emptying, which is useful for larger homes and pet-heavy spaces.
- Turbo Brush: Targets embedded pet hair on carpets and rugs more effectively than a basic floor head alone.
- Upholstery Tool: Helps remove fur and dust from sofas, chairs and other soft furnishings.
- 8m Cord: Extends cleaning reach across multiple rooms with fewer power-point changes.
- 2.5m Hose: Makes it easier to clean stairs, furniture and awkward spots without dragging the whole unit as close.
- Antibacterial HEPA Filter: Helps reduce airborne dust during vacuuming for a cleaner-feeling home environment.
Q: Will this vacuum handle stairs and upholstery without constant unplugging?
A: Yes. VX74 combines an 8 m cord with a 2.5 m hose, so it gives better reach for stairs, sofas and under furniture than shorter barrel vacuums. The trade-off is a 6.3 kg body, so it is not the lightest option to carry between levels.
Q: Is the Vax Pet Pro suitable for hard floors and rugs?
A: Yes. VX74 includes a hard floor tool for tiles and timber, plus a Turbo Brush for rugs and carpet. It suits mixed-floor homes, but you need to swap tools for the best result because it does not rely on one floor head for every surface.
Q: How much upkeep does the bagless design actually need?
A: The bagless 4 L bin saves buying vacuum bags, but it does need regular emptying and filter care to keep airflow steady. VX74 uses cyclonic separation and an antibacterial HEPA filter, so it is simpler than bag changes, not maintenance-free.
Q: Is this barrel vacuum easy to store in a small cupboard?
A: Not especially. VX74 is a full-size barrel vacuum with a 4 L bin and a 6.3 kg body, so it takes more cupboard space than compact models. It suits buyers who want capacity and reach more than the smallest storage footprint.
Q: Are replacement filters available for the VX74 vacuum?
A: Yes. A Vax Power 7 Filter Pack is listed as a spare for VX74, which matters if you want a model with ongoing consumables available. The included tools cover day-to-day cleaning, but spare availability can still affect long-term ownership.
