Lighter weight and powerful
We've had it now for 3 weeks. We previously had a Miele cat and dog bagless. This Electrolux unit is lighter to take upstairs (and around downstairs) and has good suction control. It doesn't have as many separate tools as the Miele had and has a marginally smaller bin, but that's been ok for us. It also doesn't have an auto return power chord like the Miele. The Electrolux's button has to be held in to retract it. We are a family if 4 adults with two dogs. The Electrolux seems to be fit for purpose so far. FYI - the Miele still works well but it's so heavy and the arms and joints keep breaking .

I am very happy with this vacuum cleaner. I purchased it to replace one of the same product that I had used for some years. I was so happy with it that I stayed with the same product. I am very happy with the service I received as well as the delivery time.

At a glance
The Electrolux PURE C9 Animal is a mid-range bagless barrel vacuum built for pet-owning households that need strong suction across carpet, tiles and hard floors. Its standout strengths are pet hair pickup, HEPA 13 filtration and a long 12 metre cleaning reach for larger spaces. It is a practical all-rounder, though its bagless bin still needs regular emptying and cleaning compared with premium self-sealing systems.

Things to consider
It offers strong everyday pet-hair cleaning, but it lacks the convenience features found on more premium alternatives such as self-emptying dust disposal or advanced powered floorheads for specialist deep carpet care.
Pet hair performance score
9/10 - turbo nozzle and strong suction make it well suited to lifting pet hair from carpets and hard floors.
Large home suitability
8/10 - the 12 metre cleaning reach and 1.6 L bin suit larger rooms and longer cleaning sessions.
Carpet vs hard floor fit
Strong all-rounder for mixed surfaces, with especially good pet-hair performance on carpets and reliable pickup on tiles and hard floors.
Noise level rating
6/10 - likely acceptable for a powerful barrel vacuum, but not positioned as a low-noise specialist model.
Portability rating
7/10 - extra-large easy-roll wheels help manoeuvrability, though it is still a full-size barrel vacuum rather than a lightweight stick design.
Key benefits
- 1700W suction: Delivers strong cleaning performance for lifting pet hair and fine dust from carpets, tiles and hard floors.
- Turbo nozzle: Helps remove stubborn pet hair more effectively from carpets and upholstery-prone areas.
- 1.6 L bagless bin: Gives useful capacity for regular cleaning before the bin needs to be emptied.
- 12 metre cleaning reach: Covers larger rooms and hallways from one power point with fewer interruptions.
- 7-stage sealed filtration with HEPA 13 filter: Traps fine dust before air is released back into the home.
- Power level control: Lets you reduce suction for curtains, upholstery and other more delicate surfaces.
- AeroPro telescopic tube: Adjusts more easily to different user heights and cleaning tasks around the home.
- Horizontal and vertical parking: Makes storage and short pauses during cleaning simpler and more convenient.
Q: Is this vacuum suitable for homes with heavy pet shedding?
A: Yes. The Electrolux PURE C9 Animal is built for pet hair, with strong suction and a turbo nozzle for carpets and rugs. Its 1.6L bagless bin suits regular cleaning, but heavy shedders or very large homes may need more frequent emptying.
Q: Can it clean a large room from one power point?
A: Yes. Electrolux PURE C9 Animal has a 12 metre cleaning reach, which is handy for larger rooms and hallways without changing outlets as often. Reach still depends on room layout, and stairs may still need a closer power point.
Q: Does the HEPA 13 filter help keep fine dust contained?
A: Yes. Electrolux PURE C9 Animal uses a sealed 7-stage filtration system with a HEPA 13 filter, so fine dust is trapped inside the vacuum before air is released. That matters most if stronger dust containment is a priority while cleaning.
Q: Will the suction be too strong for curtains or upholstery?
A: No. Electrolux PURE C9 Animal has power level control, so suction can be lowered for lighter fabrics, curtains and upholstery. It is still a high-powered barrel vacuum, so the lower setting and the right tool matter on delicate surfaces.
Q: Is the turbo nozzle mainly for carpet or hard floors?
A: The turbo nozzle is most useful on carpets and rugs where pet hair can sit deeper in the pile. Electrolux PURE C9 Animal also cleans hard floors and tiles, but the turbo head is the more targeted attachment for embedded hair removal.
Q: How easy is it to store between cleaning sessions?
A: Electrolux PURE C9 Animal is easier to park than many barrel vacuums because it supports both horizontal and vertical parking. The barrel body still needs cupboard or floor space, so it is not as compact as a handstick cleaner.
