The run around
What was meant to be a 3-4 day delivery turned into 3 weeks, after a phone call and a helpful assistant who reordered from another store. But it was very stressful and annoying, as I needed my new vaccum cleaner. I’m happy with the product but not with the original online purchasing experience.

Powerful suction, light weight It can go under some furniture because the handle goes down to the floor. Extra pieces.

Easy to put together. It’s a good looking machine with great suction. I thought my vacuuming was thorough til the Bissell. It’s noisy but does a really good job. Comes with pet hair attachments. Very happy.

At a glance
This bagless upright vacuum is a solid fit for households wanting dependable everyday cleaning on carpets, low pile rugs, stairs and upholstery. It offers useful included tools, a 1 L bin and automatic cord rewind for faster pack-up. Its lighter 6.35 kg build helps with steering, but carrying it up stairs is less convenient than using a stick vacuum.
What it’s great for
- Everyday home cleaning
- Carpet cleaning
- Stair cleaning
- Upholstery cleaning
- Routine whole-home vacuuming
Where it works best
- Family homes
- Carpeted living areas
- Mixed-floor households
- Bedrooms
- Staircases
Who it’s for
- Everyday households
- Budget-conscious buyers
- Renters
- Small families
- Homeowners wanting a full-size upright
Things to consider
It is better suited to routine home cleaning than premium vacuums with advanced filtration, powered lift-away designs or stronger pet-specific performance.
Pet hair performance score
6/10 - Included pet hair tool helps on upholstery and stairs, but this model is not positioned as a dedicated pet vacuum.
Allergy suitability
Basic - suitable for general dust pickup, but not ideal if you want premium allergy-focused filtration.
Multi-surface versatility
7/10 - Works across carpet, low pile carpet, stairs and upholstery, though it is not designed for wet cleaning.
Ease of storage
Moderate - automatic cord rewind helps neat storage, but the full-size upright format takes more space than a stick vacuum.
Key benefits
- Bagless Design: Lets you empty the dust bin without buying replacement vacuum bags.
- 1 L Bin Capacity: Supports routine whole-home cleaning with fewer trips to empty the bin.
- Automatic Cord Rewind: Retracts the 7 m cord at the push of a button for quicker pack-up after cleaning.
- Turbo Brush: Helps lift embedded dirt from stairs and upholstered furniture.
- Pet Hair Eraser Tool: Helps remove hair from upholstery and stairs more effectively than using the main floor head alone.
- Wide Cleaning Path: Covers more floor area in each pass to reduce the number of passes needed across larger rooms.
- 6.35 kg Weight: Lighter than many full-size uprights, making it easier to steer around rooms and furniture.
- Extension Wand and Crevice Tool: Help reach edges, corners and tighter spaces above floor level.
Q: Is this upright vacuum suitable for a multi-level home?
A: Yes, for regular room-to-room cleaning. At 6.35kg, the Bissell Powerforce Helix Turbo Rewind is lighter than many full-size uprights, but it is still less convenient to carry up stairs often than a lighter stick-style vacuum.
Q: Can it clean hard floors as well as carpeted rooms?
A: Yes. Bissell Powerforce Helix Turbo Rewind is designed for carpets, low pile carpet, stairs, upholstery and bare floors, so it suits mixed-floor homes. It is aimed at routine dry cleaning rather than wet pickup or scrubbing hard floors.
Q: How well does it handle pet hair on stairs and upholstery?
A: It is well suited to removing pet hair from fabric surfaces because it includes a turbo brush and a pet hair eraser tool. It is not positioned as a specialist pet vacuum for every floor type, but the included tools add useful targeted cleaning.
Q: Will the 1L bin need constant emptying during cleaning?
A: No, not for routine cleaning in most homes. The 1L bin is sized for regular whole-home sessions without frequent stops, though homes with heavy shedding pets or very dusty carpets may still need more than one empty during a big clean.
Q: Does this vacuum pick up wet spills or only dry debris?
A: It only handles dry vacuuming. This Bissell upright is not a wet and dry model, so it is made for dust, dirt and debris on floors, stairs and upholstery rather than liquid spills or damp messes.
Q: What is storage like compared with a slimmer stick vacuum?
A: Storage is straightforward, especially because the 7m cord rewinds automatically at the push of a button. The upright body still takes up more floor space than a slim stick vacuum, so it suits cupboards with a bit more room.
