    Great little Expresso

It is a great little machine if you like expresso. It is not fancy, and it does not want to be. But it makes what it is supposed to do very well.

    Best coffee machine!

Really love the quality of the coffee this machine makes. It took me a little bit of getting used to to start with however now I have found the right grind. It makes such a good crema and consistency of milk. Highly recommend!

    Makes Coffee

Upgraded to this unit after owning a Sunbeam Mini-Barista for 7 years. It's a pretty standard unit and does what is says on the tin. No real bells or whistles and I hope it's as trouble free and reliable as the last one. Pros: good number of settings to explore and dial in if you wish to delve into the nuance of your brew - sometimes via trial and error. I have settled on a long pre-infusion and customised the grind and amount to suit. Grinder is excellent by the way. Cons: what you'd expect in the price range - low output heater element and passable steamer performance.

Sunbeam Origins Classic - so far so good!

Grinds well, heats and delivers coffee as described - it's wonderful to have real coffee at the touch of a few buttons. A neat stylish little machine that delivers café quality caffeine delights :-D Still getting to know the machine - and learning how to utilize effectively but overall satisfied with what we've experienced for our needs so far.

The below information is AI generated based on Australian websites information around this item. We have done our best to ensure its accuracy but suggest verifying any information within this tab before purchasing.

At a glance

The Sunbeam Origins Classic Espresso Coffee Machine Black is a mid-range manual espresso machine for home users who want fresher coffee from a built-in grinder and better extraction from a 58 mm group head. Its strengths are convenient auto dosing, reduced mess while grinding and strong milk frothing. The trade-off is that it is more hands-on and takes more bench space than simpler capsule or compact espresso machines.

What it’s great for

  • Home espresso making
  • Milk-based coffees
  • Fresh grinding at home
  • Daily single or double shots
  • Learning barista-style coffee

Where it works best

  • Home kitchen
  • Apartment kitchen with adequate bench space
  • Entertaining area
  • Coffee-focused household

Who it’s for

  • Home coffee enthusiast
  • Beginner barista
  • Everyday espresso drinker
  • Flat white lover
  • Household upgrading from pod coffee

Things to consider

It offers strong core espresso features, but it is still more manual and less automated than premium machines with advanced temperature control, automatic milk systems or more specialist adjustment options.

Barista experience suitability

Good for beginners stepping into manual espresso and intermediate users who want more involvement than pod systems.

Ease of cleaning score

7/10 - anti-static grinding helps reduce mess and the one-button cleaning function supports simpler routine maintenance.

Beginner friendliness

7/10 - built-in grinding, auto dosing and preset shot options make it approachable, though manual milk texturing still takes practice.

Counter space suitability

Medium to large benchtops

Noise level vs category average

About average for a manual espresso machine with an integrated grinder.

Key benefits

  • Built-in conical burr grinder: Grinds beans fresh inside the machine so you can make espresso with less separate equipment on the bench.
  • Tap & Go auto dosing: Delivers measured grounds for single or double shots to make daily prep simpler and more consistent.
  • Anti-static grinding technology: Helps reduce stray coffee grounds on the benchtop for a cleaner workflow.
  • 58 mm commercial size group head: Allows water to contact a larger surface area of coffee grounds for fuller flavour extraction.
  • 15-bar pump: Provides the pump pressure needed for rich espresso extraction at home.
  • Preset single and double shot extraction: Makes it easier to repeat your preferred espresso volume without guessing each time.
  • Powerful steam wand: Creates silky milk foam for flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes.
  • One-button cleaning function: Simplifies routine maintenance so the machine is easier to keep ready for everyday use.

Q: Does the Sunbeam Origins Classic grind beans fresh for each coffee?

A: Yes. It has a built-in conical burr grinder with Tap & Go auto dosing, so beans can be ground straight into the group head for each single or double shot. That suits buyers who want fresher espresso without using a separate grinder.

Q: What does the 58mm group head mean in everyday use?

A: The 58mm group head is a commercial-style size, so water spreads across a broader coffee bed during extraction. It also makes this model closer to cafe-style machines than compact home units that use smaller baskets and accessories.

Q: Is the anti-static grinder likely to reduce mess on the benchtop?

A: Yes. Sunbeam states the grinder uses anti-static technology to funnel grounds into the group head rather than scattering them around the bench. That matters if tidy dosing is a priority, especially in smaller kitchens or morning rush use.

Q: Can this machine make milk-based coffees like flat whites and cappuccinos?

A: Yes. It has a powerful steam wand for texturing milk, so it can prepare espresso drinks such as flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes. This is a manual steam system, so milk texture depends on technique rather than one-touch automation.

Q: Is this model better suited to hands-on espresso making or one-touch convenience?

A: It is better suited to hands-on espresso making. The machine automates grinding dose and offers preset single or double shot extraction, but milk texturing is still manual, so it suits buyers who want more control than capsule or fully automatic machines.
