Top notch product
Value for Money The 500ml bottle is conveniently designed for multiple uses. Since a standard descaling cycle typically requires 100ml of solution, one bottle provides five full treatments. For the average home user, this translates to about a year’s worth of maintenance, making it a cost-effective alternative to buying single-use sachets.

Effective Coffee Descaler
I have been using Delonghi Coffee Descaler Solution for the last 5 years with my Delonghi coffee machine. The instructions are clear, it is simple to use and always keeps my machine functioning at its best. Because it is a liquid and is added to the water container, you should be able to use it with any brand of coffee machine.

At a glance
This 500 mL liquid descaler is designed to remove limescale from coffee machines and help keep them performing well over time. It suits most home users who want an easy, ready-to-use maintenance product with broad machine compatibility and enough solution for multiple cleans. Its main limitation is that it is a maintenance accessory rather than a specialist deep-service product for severe scale build-up.
What it’s great for
- Routine Coffee Machine Maintenance
- Limescale Removal
- Extending Machine Lifespan
- Improving Brewing Performance
Where it works best
- Home Kitchens
- Apartment Living
- Small Offices
- Everyday Coffee Setups
Who it’s for
- Home Coffee Drinkers
- Bean-to-Cup Owners
- Espresso Machine Owners
- Pod Machine Users
Things to consider
It is ideal for regular descaling and general upkeep, but heavy scale build-up or neglected machines may need repeated treatments or more intensive servicing.
Machine compatibility
Suitable for most domestic coffee machines, including bean-to-cup, pump espresso, filter, pod and capsule models.
Barista suitability
7/10 - well suited to home users who want reliable machine maintenance, but it is not a specialised commercial cleaning solution.
Ease of use
9/10 - simple liquid format is easy to measure and use during a standard descaling cycle.
Cleaning convenience
9/10 - fast and straightforward for routine descaling, with no tablet dissolving step required.
Key benefits
- 500 mL BOTTLE: Provides enough liquid for up to 4 descaling operations, making it practical for routine maintenance.
- Liquid descaler format: Ready to pour into the reservoir, with no need to wait for tablets or powders to dissolve.
- Limescale removal: Helps dissolve calcium and mineral deposits that can affect water flow and brewing performance.
- 100% lactic acid formula: Uses an ecological descaling formula designed for regular coffee machine care.
- Broad machine suitability: Suitable for all coffee machine types, including bean-to-cup, pump espresso, filter, pod and capsule models.
- Regular maintenance support: Ongoing descaling can help reduce the likelihood of premature breakdown caused by scale build-up.
- Energy efficiency support: Limescale accumulation can increase energy consumption by up to 30%, so regular descaling helps maintain efficient operation.
- Safe, easy cleaning: Designed as a fuss-free cleaning solution that simplifies routine care for domestic coffee machines.
Q: Can this descaler be used in non-DeLonghi coffee machines?
A: Yes. This liquid descaler is suitable for all coffee machine brands, including bean-to-cup, pump espresso, filter, pod and capsule models. It is aimed at domestic machines rather than commercial servicing or severe scale removal.
Q: How many descaling cycles do you get from the 500ml bottle?
A: DeLonghi DLSC500 contains enough solution for 4 descaling operations. That makes it a practical choice for routine machine care, but heavily scaled machines may still need repeated treatment or a separate service if performance does not recover.
Q: Is this liquid descaler better than using vinegar in a coffee machine?
A: Yes. DeLonghi DLSC500 is formulated for coffee machine descaling and runs through a normal cleaning cycle without waiting for a tablet or powder to dissolve. Vinegar is not the intended cleaning product and can leave odour or taste behind in the system.
Q: Will this fix a badly scaled machine that has been neglected?
A: No. This descaler is designed for regular limescale removal and routine maintenance, not as a repair product for long-neglected machines. If scale build-up is severe, more than one treatment or a proper service may still be needed.
Q: Does DeLonghi DLSC500 go straight into the water reservoir?
A: Yes. DeLonghi DLSC500 is a ready-to-pour liquid descaler, so it goes into the water reservoir for the machine's descaling cycle. It is easier to use than tablets because there is no dissolving step before you start cleaning.
Q: What type of descaler formula is used in this bottle?
A: DeLonghi DLSC500 uses a 100% lactic acid formula designed to dissolve limescale deposits inside coffee machines. It is made for routine descaling, not for scrubbing external parts or replacing a full repair when scale build-up is advanced.
