Good results
I am a clean freak, so I was disappointed there was only one cloth. In my head I planned to steam clean the floor, then go over it a second time with a clean cloth. Best thing is, I’m not flicking dirty water all over the place, like I used to with the mop. I’m guessing I’ll get better at using it, meanwhile it’s transportable, it does the job and I am getting more cloths. Haven’t yet used it as a separate steam clear with other attachments.

Hoover Pet Steamer
Love it. As a steam mop, it does everything I need it to. I haven't tried the hand held as yet. Cannot wait. I expect the results to be as great. Only wish the tank was a little bigger to cleaner longer before having to refill. Not a bigger though. Great product.

Easy to use - multi functional
This is a really handy steam mop. I bought to clean some hard to clean tiles, it’s been handy for steam cleaning shower screens also.

Disappointed, but kept for handheld use
Not as powerful as hoped. It tends to leave a lot of water on the tiles and doesn’t dry as expected, we still follow it with a towel to dry the surfaces so as not to cause a slip hazard. It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, and the hand held steamer is useful for other jobs around the house but otherwise underwhelmed as a floor steam cleaner.

Excellent. Easy to control the amount of product that is being applied to tiles or carpet.

At a glance
The Hoover Steam Fresh Pet Steam Mop is a versatile steam cleaner that works as both a full-size mop and detachable handheld unit. It suits pet owners and busy homes wanting help with sealed floors, carpets and detail cleaning. Key strengths are its included tools, Steam Boost and long 7 m cord. Its main limitation is the modest 260 mL water tank, which may need refilling in larger homes.

- Sealed hard floor cleaning
- Pet household cleaning
- Refreshing carpets
- Grout and window detailing
- Everyday stain removal
Where it works best
- Homes with pets
- Family homes

Who it’s for

- Apartment dwellers
- Families
- Home cleaners wanting handheld versatility
Things to consider
The 260 mL clean water tank is practical for regular cleaning, but larger homes may require more frequent refills than higher-capacity steam mops.
Pet owner suitability
High - well suited to homes with pets thanks to its steam cleaning, carpet glider and handheld tools for mess-prone areas.
Allergy friendliness
7/10 - steam cleaning can help reduce reliance on harsher chemicals, though it is designed for cleaning rather than specialist allergen filtration.
Multi-surface cleaning score
8/10 - cleans sealed hard floors, freshens carpets and converts for grout, glass and appliance cleaning.
Ease of use rating
8/10 - lightweight design, handheld conversion and a 7 m cord make it easy to move around most homes.
Noise level vs category average
About average - typical steam mop operating noise, with no specific low-noise design claim.
Key benefits
- 2-in-1 design: Converts from a full-size steam mop to a detachable handheld cleaner for floors, appliances, glass and grout.
- Steam Boost function: Adds extra steam output when you need more cleaning power on stubborn marks.
- Carpet glider included: Lets you freshen carpets as well as clean sealed hard floor surfaces.
- 7 m power cord: Gives longer reach so you can clean multiple areas with fewer power point changes.
- 1600W heating power: Delivers strong steam performance for everyday floor cleaning and targeted detail work.
- Inbuilt scrubbing brush: Helps lift everyday stains and marks without needing a separate hand tool.
- Accessory kit included: Comes with nozzles, grout, brush and window tools for more detailed cleaning tasks around the home.
- Dual tank setup: A 260 mL water tank and 130 mL solution tank support longer cleaning sessions before refilling.
Q: Can this steam mop be used on sealed timber floors?
A: Yes. Hoover Steam Fresh Pet is designed for sealed hard floor surfaces, so it suits sealed timber and other sealed hard floors. It is not intended for unsealed floors, where steam and moisture can mark or lift the finish.
Q: Will the carpet glider actually clean carpet or just freshen it?
A: It is for light carpet refreshing rather than a deep carpet clean. Hoover Steam Fresh Pet includes a carpet glider to glide over suitable carpeted areas, but its main floor-cleaning job is sealed hard surfaces, not pile washing or stain extraction.
Q: Can it switch to handheld mode for grout and windows?
A: Yes. Hoover Steam Fresh Pet converts from a full-size mop to a detachable handheld cleaner, and it includes grout, window, nozzle and scrubbing tools. That makes it suitable for detail jobs that a floor-only steam mop cannot reach easily.
Q: How often does the water tank need refilling during a clean?
A: Refill frequency depends on how much steam you use, but the mop carries a 260ml clean water tank and a 130ml solution tank. That is practical for routine room-to-room cleaning, though a full-house session may still mean topping up partway through.
Q: Will this suit a bigger house or mostly smaller spaces?
A: It can cover multiple rooms, thanks to its lightweight design and 7 metre cord, but the tanks are sized for routine cleaning rather than long uninterrupted sessions. In a larger home, expect to refill more often than with a bigger steam cleaner.
Q: Is the cord long enough to clean more than one room?
A: Yes. The 7 metre cord gives more reach than a short-cord steam mop, so you can move through larger areas with fewer power-point changes. It is still a corded cleaner, so reach depends on furniture layout and outlet position.
Q: Does the Hoover Steam Fresh Pet include more than one mop pad?
A: No. Hoover Steam Fresh Pet comes with one mop pad in the box. If you prefer to swap to a fresh pad partway through a whole-house clean, plan on buying additional pads separately.
