Love my new Dyson
Great vacuum. Highly recommend. Easy to manoeuvre, lightweight with good suction. Love the no touch bin emptying feature. The wall mounted charging dock makes it easy to store. Purchased from The Good Guys at a great price. Very happy.

Good vacuum for small spaces.
For the cost, i am not sure about the battery charge. Does not last long after full charge after vaccuming 3 rooms. But happy with the cleaning and suction power. Extra accessories for cleaning is helpful

Good Vacuum
Great suction, picks everything up it needs too. Battery life is not as good as our previous (other brand) vacuum. Cannot thoroughly vacuum the house on one charge.

Great additional vacuum
Have a robot vacuum but this is great for spot cleans and cleaning the corners the robot doesnt get to. Much easier than having to bring out the old corded vacuum cleaner!

Works well but not user friendly
Great features and works well but with the battery weight at your hand the hard plastic causes pain and a blister on the top of the thumb. Also the need to press the trigger as there is no trigger lock, means the pressure makes the blistering worse. Wearing gloves, swapping hands and only using for short periods helps.

At a glance
The Dyson V8 Advanced + Car Cleaning Kit is a lightweight cordless stick vacuum suited to homes needing flexible floor-to-car cleaning. It stands out for easy handheld conversion, de-tangling hair pickup and strong filtration for cleaner exhaust air. It is best for everyday whole-home touch-ups rather than long deep-cleaning sessions, as runtime and power are below more premium cordless models.
What it’s great for
- Everyday home cleaning
- Quick spill and mess pickup
- Hard floor cleaning
- Mixed floor homes
- Car interior cleaning
- Hair pickup
Where it works best
- Apartments
- Family homes
- Townhouses
- Cars
- Stairs
- Bedrooms and living areas
Who it’s for
- Apartment dwellers
- Busy households
- Car owners
- Allergy-conscious users
- Shoppers wanting a lighter cordless vacuum
Things to consider
Compared with more premium cordless vacuums, it has a shorter up to 40-minute runtime and lower maximum suction, so it is better suited to routine cleaning than larger or more demanding deep-clean jobs.
Pet hair performance score
7/10 - De-tangling cleaner head helps with hair pickup, but it is not specifically positioned as a pet-focused model.
Carpet vs hard floor suitability
Well suited to mixed surfaces, with especially practical everyday performance on hard floors and light-to-moderate carpet cleaning.
Portability rating
9/10 - Lightweight cordless design and one-click handheld conversion make it easy to carry around the home and into the car.
Noise level vs category average
About average for a cordless stick vacuum
Allergy friendliness
8/10 - Whole-machine filtration captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, which helps reduce dust re-release.
Key benefits
- Up to 40-minute runtime: Gives you enough cordless cleaning time for routine whole-home touch-ups and car interiors.
- Motorbar cleaner head: De-tangling vanes automatically clear wrapped hair from the brush bar while you clean.
- Whole-machine filtration: Captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns for cleaner exhaust air.
- Transforms to handheld: Switches from stick to handheld in one click for stairs, upholstery and car cleaning.
- Bagless 0.54 L bin: Holds a practical amount of dust for everyday cleaning without needing vacuum bags.
- Wall dock included: Helps store and charge the vacuum neatly between cleans.
- Car cleaning kit tools: Includes an extension hose, crevice tool and brushes to reach tighter spots inside vehicles.
- Two cleaning modes: Lets you balance stronger pickup or longer runtime depending on the task.
Q: Is the battery enough for whole-home cleans or mainly touch-ups?
A: Dyson V8 Advanced can run for up to 40 minutes when used with non-motorised tools. It suits routine cleans, stairs and car interiors well, but longer sessions on carpet with the motorised head will use the battery faster.
Q: What tools are included for cleaning the car interior?
A: Yes. Dyson V8 Advanced includes an extension hose, crevice tool, stubborn dirt brush and mini soft dusting brush for car cleaning. That gives it better reach for footwells, seats and tight trims than a floor head alone.
Q: Can you wall mount it straight away after delivery?
A: Not completely. Dyson V8 Advanced includes a wall dock for storage and charging, but screws are not included in the box. If you want it mounted from day one, plan to supply the suitable fixings separately.
Q: How well does it handle pet hair on floors and carpet?
A: It handles everyday hair pickup well on hard floors and carpet, and the Motorbar head is designed to clear wrapped hair as you clean. It is not positioned as a pet-specific model, and no dedicated pet tool is included here.
Q: How long does Dyson V8 Advanced take to fully recharge?
A: Dyson V8 Advanced takes up to 5 hours for a full recharge. That suits daily or between-use charging, but it is not the best fit if you want to stop mid clean, recharge quickly and finish a larger job soon after.
Q: Is the 0.54L bin enough for larger cleaning jobs?
A: Dyson V8 Advanced has a 0.54L bin, which is practical for routine vacuuming and car interiors. For larger cleans or homes with lots of hair and debris, expect to empty it more often than a bigger full-size vacuum.
