Good vacuum
Great little vacuum , very powerful and easy to use. Doesn’t take up much room for charging. However, emptying the dust chamber is not a 1 step process, you will need to remove the filter first. But overall great little vacuum

At a glance
A versatile cordless stick vacuum built for pet owners who want easy cleaning across hard floors, carpets and furniture. Its strengths are pet-hair pickup tools, handheld flexibility, up to 60 minutes of runtime and a 6-step filtration system. A fair limitation is the compact 0.4 L bin, which may need more frequent emptying in larger homes or heavy-shed households.
What it’s great for
- Pet hair removal
- Everyday floor cleaning
- Upholstery cleaning
- Quick handheld clean-ups
- Stairs and furniture
Where it works best
- Homes with pets
- Apartments
- Small to medium households
- Multi-surface living areas
- Stairs and upholstered spaces
Who it’s for
- Pet owners
- Apartment dwellers
- Busy households
- Everyday home cleaners
- Users wanting cordless convenience
Things to consider
The 0.4 L bin is compact, so it may require more frequent emptying than larger or more premium stick vacuums during bigger cleaning sessions.
Pet hair performance score
8.5/10 - PetPro nozzle and pet-focused design make it strong for lifting hair from upholstery, stairs and everyday floor surfaces.
Carpet vs hard floor suitability
Well suited to both hard floors and carpets, with added versatility for upholstery cleaning.
Portability rating
8/10 - cordless design, handheld mode and compact bin make it easy to move around the home.
Noise level vs category average
Around average for a stick vacuum at 80 dBA.
Allergy friendliness
7.5/10 - 6-step filtration helps capture dust and dander, though it is still a bagless design with a small bin to empty.
Key benefits
- PetPro Nozzle: targets pet hair on furniture and stairs for more effective spot cleaning in pet-friendly homes.
- 6-Step Filtration System: helps capture dust and dander for a cleaner, more hygienic home environment.
- Multiple Cyclone Technology: reduces filter clogging to support more consistent suction during cleaning.
- Up to 60 Minutes Runtime: provides extended handheld cleaning time for everyday jobs without frequent recharging.
- Auto Mode: adjusts suction as you move between surfaces for easier multi-surface cleaning.
- Handheld Mode: makes quick clean-ups on furniture, stairs and tight spaces easier.
- Bagless 0.4 L Bin: keeps the vacuum compact and easy to carry and store between uses.
- 2.5 Hour Charging Time: gets the vacuum ready again relatively quickly for regular household use.
Q: Is the Electrolux EFP81814 a good fit for homes with pets that shed on furniture and stairs?
A: Yes. The PetPro nozzle is designed to lift pet hair from upholstery and other fabric surfaces, while the handheld mode helps on stairs, sofas and pet beds. Its six-step filtration also helps capture dander and fine dust while vacuuming.
Q: Can the EFP81814 handle a full house clean, or is it better for quick top-ups?
A: It suits both, with some limits. Electrolux states up to 35 minutes on min mode with the complete unit and up to 60 minutes on min mode with the hand unit, so whole-home cleaning is realistic for many medium spaces rather than very large homes.
Q: What does Auto Mode actually do on this Electrolux stick vacuum?
A: Auto Mode adjusts suction as you move between hard floors and carpet. That means stronger cleaning where needed and less battery used on easier surfaces, which is useful in homes with mixed flooring rather than one surface type throughout.
Q: Will the 0.4L dust bin need frequent emptying in a pet household?
A: Yes, a 0.4L bin is compact, so homes with lots of pet hair may empty it more often than larger barrel or corded vacuums. The trade-off is a lighter stick vacuum that is easier to carry and store between quick cleans.
Q: Does the EFP81814 keep suction consistent as the filter gets dirty?
A: It is designed to hold suction more consistently than simpler systems. Electrolux states the multiple cyclonic separators reduce filter clogging by up to 5 times, which helps maintain airflow for longer during regular cleaning sessions.
