Good Price for Convenience
Ironing is my least favourite chore related to preparing my clothes but, at least it looks good and was a good price from the Good Guys. Have seen it advertised for almost for twice as much elsewhere.

At a glance
The Sunbeam ProSteam Swift 2400W is a lightweight steam iron made for everyday home ironing and quick garment touch-ups. It suits busy households that want solid steam performance, easy handling and simple maintenance. Key strengths include its 85g/min steam shot, non-stick soleplate and auto shut off. One limitation is that it is a basic corded model without premium soleplate materials or stronger steam output for heavier fabrics.

- Quick Touch-Ups
- Vertical Steaming
- Regular Laundry Loads
- Delicate Garment Care
Where it works best

Things to consider
Its 85g/min steam shot and non-stick soleplate are practical for daily use, but premium irons may offer more powerful steam, more advanced soleplate materials and better performance on heavy linen or stubborn creases.
Fabric care suitability score
7.5/10 - Good for everyday fabrics and delicate items thanks to anti-drip and smooth soleplate, but not as specialised for heavy-duty pressing as higher-end models.
Ease of use rating
8.5/10 - Lightweight design, soft touch handle and smooth soleplate make it comfortable and straightforward to use.
Travel friendliness
Better suited to home use than travel, as it is a full-size corded iron with a 2 m cord rather than a compact travel model.
Safety features assessment
8/10 - Auto shut off adds useful day-to-day reassurance for home ironing.
Key benefits
- 2400W heater: Delivers strong heat output for faster warm-up and steady everyday ironing performance.
- 85g/min steam shot: Helps relax stubborn creases with a clearly rated burst of steam.
- EasyGlide non-stick soleplate: Glides smoothly across fabrics to make ironing feel easier and more controlled.
- Soft touch handle: Adds comfort during longer ironing sessions.
- Anti-drip system: Helps reduce water spotting on delicate garments.
- Anti-calc cartridge: Reduces mineral build-up to support more consistent steam performance over time.
- Self-clean button: Makes routine maintenance simpler and helps keep the iron working reliably.
- Safety auto off: Switches the iron off automatically if left unattended for added peace of mind.
Q: Can it steam clothes vertically on a hanger?
A: Yes. Sunbeam SR4260 includes vertical steam, so it can refresh hanging garments and handle light touch-ups without using an ironing board. It is better for softening minor creases than pressing sharp folds into heavier fabrics.
Q: What does the non-stick soleplate mean in everyday use?
A: The EasyGlide non-stick soleplate is designed to move smoothly across common fabrics and wipe clean more easily after use. It suits everyday ironing well, but it is not the more premium soleplate material some higher-tier irons use.
Q: Is this iron suitable for school uniforms and work shirts?
A: Yes. Sunbeam SR4260 combines 2400W power with an 85g/min steam shot, which suits regular loads like uniforms, shirts and general household ironing. It is built for everyday fabric care rather than heavy-duty pressing on thick textiles.
Q: Does the anti-drip feature stop water marks on clothes?
A: It helps reduce dripping and water spotting while ironing, especially when using steam on suitable heat settings. It is a useful safeguard, but it does not mean the iron can never release moisture if settings or water use are not matched well.
Q: Is the Sunbeam SR4260 heavy to use for longer ironing?
A: No. Sunbeam SR4260 weighs 1.4kg and has a soft touch handle, so it is easier to manage than a bulkier full-size iron during longer sessions. It is still a home iron, not a compact travel model, so it is better suited to regular laundry use.
Q: How much maintenance does this steam iron actually need?
A: This iron is designed for low-fuss upkeep, with an anti-calc cartridge, self-clean button and anti-drip system built in. Those features help reduce scale build-up and residue, but regular cleaning still matters if you use steam often or have harder water.
