    Okay Iron.

This iron is okay and does the job, and is reasonable price. However it does not get as hot as my old iron, which I found disappointing.

    Great product, great price!

Our previous Philips iron gave up the ghost after 12 years - dropped many times. The new one was recommended by Choice and the price everywhere else was $100 dearer than at the Good Guys . Very happy with the iron and very happy with the price!

    Good quality, easy to use

I wanted to replace my existing product within budget. This iron's specs were equal to higher priced items. Upon use, it hasn't disappointed. Does the job. Easy, smooth, various settings. The GoodGuys additional warranty is good value for money. Haven't yet had a need to use it.

    Reliable, good quality iron

Heats up quickly and maintains effective use for long periods of use. Loses a star as the water tank is very hard to see as the plastic area is dark blue. Length of cord is fine is close to a power point. Would prefer a leaflet provided with instructions instead of having to find this yourself online.

At a glance

A strong mid-range steam iron for households that want faster wrinkle removal without stepping into premium pricing. It suits regular family ironing, school uniforms and workwear, with solid steam performance, smooth gliding and useful safety features. Things to consider

It offers strong steam and convenience features, but premium irons may provide more advanced soleplates, stronger continuous steam, or no-burn temperature management for greater ease across delicate fabrics.

Fabric care suitability score

8/10 - Strong steam control, drip-stop protection and a smooth soleplate make it suitable for a wide range of everyday fabrics.

Ease of use rating

8/10 - Easy to use with variable steam, vertical steaming, spray mist, auto shut-off and a practical 2 m cord.

Travel friendliness

Best for home use rather than travel due to its full-size design and regular steam iron format.

Safety features assessment

8/10 - Auto shut-off adds strong day-to-day safety, while the drip-stop system helps reduce accidental spotting during use.

Key benefits

  • 2400 W power: Heats quickly for less waiting before you start ironing.
  • 50 g/min continuous steam: Delivers consistent steam output to help smooth everyday wrinkles faster.
  • 250 g steam boost: Gives extra steam power to tackle stubborn creases in thicker fabrics.
  • SteamGlide Plus soleplate: Glides smoothly over fabrics and offers enhanced scratch resistance for long-term use.
  • 300 mL water tank: Supports longer ironing sessions before needing a refill.
  • Safety auto-off: Adds peace of mind if the iron is left unattended.
  • Quick Calc Release: Makes it easier to remove scale and maintain steam performance over time.
  • Drip-stop system: Helps prevent water spots on garments while ironing at different temperatures.

Q: Is the Philips DST7030/20 suitable for delicate fabrics as well as everyday clothes?

A: Yes, if you adjust the temperature and steam to suit the fabric. The drip-stop system helps reduce water spotting at lower heat settings, which is useful when moving between items like shirts, schoolwear and lighter fabrics.

Q: Can the Philips 7000 Series Steam Iron handle heavy fabrics like jeans and bedding?

A: Yes. Philips DST7030/20 delivers 50 g/min continuous steam and a 250 g steam boost, so it has the output needed for thicker items such as denim, linen and quilt covers. Heavier fabrics may still need slower passes for deeper creases.

Q: Does the soleplate on the Philips DST7030/20 resist scratches from zips and buttons?

A: Yes. The SteamGlide Plus soleplate is designed with enhanced scratch resistance, which helps it keep gliding smoothly over time. It is still best to avoid dragging the plate directly over exposed metal trims to reduce unnecessary wear.

Q: How often will the water tank on the Philips DST7030/20 need refilling?

A: The 300 ml tank gives this iron enough capacity for longer sessions than compact models, so it suits baskets with several garments in one go. Higher steam settings and frequent steam shots will empty the tank faster than light touch-up use.

Q: Is the Philips DST7030/20 a good choice if the ironing board is far from the power point?

A: Yes. Philips DST7030/20 has a 2 m cord, which gives more reach than short-cord irons when working around a full-size board or larger items. It is still a corded model, so movement is more limited than a cordless design.

Q: Can the Philips 7000 Series Steam Iron be used vertically on hanging clothes or curtains?

A: Yes, for quick freshening and light crease removal on hanging garments. Philips DST7030/20 supports vertical steaming, but an iron used upright will usually be less effective on deep-set creases than ironing on a board with pressure.
