Good value and does the job
Attachments are useful. Have used couple times on fabric couch, chairs, mattress and it has pulled lot of dirt. Leaves the fabric bit wet so it needs longer time to dry out. Build seems good, although I have doubts on the plastic used for easily cracking if bumped. Durability remains to be seen as its only been couple months. Size is compact. Noise level is bit high, it was hard for anyone to talk or watch TV if vaccum is ON nearby. Cleaning is easy once you get used to taking apart dirt water container. Pump cleaning is helpful too. Overall a good purchase and doing the job so far.

As good as the commercial Upholstery Cleaners
I previously owned a much larger, commercial-style Karcher carpet cleaner, so I was initially a little skeptical about how well a smaller, more portable machine would perform. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the Shark StainStriker HairPro! It’s incredibly convenient to grab and use for those everyday spills, stains and messes without having to lug out a much larger machine. Despite its compact size, it does a pretty impressive job of cleaning carpets and upholstery, and the suction is good. I love how easy it is to move around the house and how practical it is for tackling smaller jobs as they arise, rather than turning cleaning into a whole production. The various attachments are handy, and the overall design makes it a great option for targeted cleaning around the home. For anyone who wants the convenience of a portable cleaner without sacrificing too much cleaning performance, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a go. My only area of curiosity is whether there are more economical cleaning solutions that can be safely used in the machine. I’d love to explore compatible alternatives for refilling the tanks rather than continually purchasing Shark-branded cleaning solutions, particularly for regular use. Overall, I’m really happy with the purchase. It has proven to be a practical, capable and convenient alternative to my much larger machine, and it’s the sort of appliance you’re more likely to reach for because it’s so easy to use!

Great upgrade from my old Bissell Auto
When the trigger tip part broke on my Bissell Auto (a common issue) I decided to give Shark a chance, especially after seeing the online reviews comparing Shark and Bissell. I found the Shark StainStriker to have strong suction and easier water filling; plus, cleaning the hose and the dirty water tank is much more hygienic at no extra cost, as the price between Shark and Bissell is quite similar. Also, Shark included all the attachments in the box, so there was no need to spend more money buying attachments when I had already invested in buying the machine. I got The Good Guys Gold services with it for a great deal from the TGG Midland store, so it will be an easy replacement if something goes wrong. Highly recommended.

At a glance
The Shark StainStriker HairPro is a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner for pet owners and households needing quick treatment of spills, stains and messes. It stands out for strong suction, pet-focused tools and easy carrying between rooms or to the car. Its main limitation is that it is better for targeted spot cleaning than large whole-room cleaning jobs.

Things to consider
This portable cleaner is best for spot cleaning and small messes, so it is less suitable than full-size carpet washers for cleaning large carpeted areas in one session.
Pet stain removal score
9/10 - strong fit for pet households thanks to pet-focused tools, odour removal support and targeted stain cleaning performance.
Large area suitability
Best for small to medium spot-cleaning tasks rather than whole-room carpet washing
Ease of use
8/10 - lightweight, portable and bagless, with a simple format that is easy to move and empty after use.
Drying time rating
7/10 - strong suction helps remove moisture well, but drying time will still vary by fabric type and how much solution is used.
Key benefits

- Pet hair cleaning tools: Included attachments help target pet hair, accidents and everyday messes on soft surfaces.
- Strong suction: Helps lift dirty water, loosened grime and odours from carpets, rugs and upholstery.
- Bagless format: Quick emptying and clean-up after each use makes maintenance simpler.
- Multi-surface cleaning: Suits carpets, rugs, upholstery, stairs and vehicle interiors for more versatile spot cleaning.
- 3.66 m power cord: Gives useful reach for stairs, sofas and nearby car cleaning without constant unplugging.
- Targeted stain removal: Designed for focused treatment of spills, tracked-in dirt and pet accidents instead of general vacuuming.
- 2 year manufacturer's warranty: Adds extra peace of mind for regular household use.
Q: Can Shark PX250ANZ replace a full-size carpet washer?
A: Shark StainStriker HairPro is better suited to targeted stain removal than whole-room carpet washing. It is easier to carry for quick spills, stairs and upholstery, but a compact portable cleaner needs more refilling and emptying on larger carpeted areas.
Q: Can it clean car seats stairs and sofas without moving it constantly?
A: Yes. It is designed for upholstery, stairs and car interiors, and the cord gives useful reach around tighter spaces. A nearby power point is still needed, especially when cleaning deeper into a car or across several areas in one session.
Q: Do you have to premix solution before using this cleaner?
A: No. Shark StainStriker mixes the two cleaning solutions inside the unit, so there is no separate premix step before cleaning. It is still a corded spot cleaner, so setup is simplest when the machine can stay close to the stain.
Q: Will it pick up pet hair as well as wet stains?
A: Yes. Shark StainStriker HairPro combines suction with HairPro pet tools to lift wet mess and remove embedded hair from soft surfaces. It is intended for carpets, rugs and upholstery rather than routine whole-home floor vacuuming.
Q: Is the dirty tank easy to empty after pet messes?
A: Yes. The bagless design lets you empty the collected dirty water and debris directly after use, which suits frequent spot cleaning. On multiple stains or larger messes, expect to empty and rinse it more often than a full-size cleaner.
