Good suction and sturdy build. Took care of stains.
Plenty of power packed into this thing and got the stains out. Comes with three different attachments to handle carpets, upholstery etc and big enough to cover a larger general area.

At a glance
The Bissell SpotClean Carpet Cleaner is a lightweight, portable solution for quickly removing stains from carpets, upholstery, and car interiors. With 50% more suction than previous models and a self-cleaning tool, it’s ideal for pet owners and families dealing with frequent messes. While highly effective for spot cleaning, it’s less suited to cleaning large floor areas in one go.

Who it’s for

Things to consider
Not designed for cleaning large carpeted areas; best for targeted spot cleaning and smaller messes.
Pet stain removal score
9/10 - Highly effective on fresh and set-in pet stains thanks to strong suction and enzymatic cleaning compatibility.
Large area suitability
5/10 - Designed for spot cleaning rather than whole-room or large area carpet cleaning.
Ease of use
Simple controls, lightweight build, and self-cleaning tool make it user-friendly for everyday messes.
Drying time rating
8/10 - Enhanced suction power helps carpets and upholstery dry faster after cleaning.
Key benefits
- 50% More Suction: Delivers deeper cleaning and faster stain removal compared to previous models.
- Self-Cleaning Tool: Automatically rinses the hose and tool to prevent odours and residue build-up.
- Lightweight Design: Easy to carry and manoeuvre for quick clean-ups around the home or car.
- Triple Action Cleaning: Combines spray, scrub, and suction for effective stain removal.
- 950 mL Tank Capacity: Cleans multiple spots before needing a refill, reducing interruptions.
- Pet-Friendly Cleaning: Compatible with enzymatic formulas to tackle pet messes and odours.
- Compact Storage: Fits easily in cupboards or small storage spaces when not in use.
- Easy to Use: Simple controls and intuitive design make operation straightforward for all users.
Q: Can this SpotClean handle whole rooms or just small stains?
A: This model is designed for targeted spot cleaning, not full-room carpet cleaning. The 950ml clean tank and 850ml dirty tank suit spills, pet messes, stairs, rugs and upholstery, but larger carpeted areas will need more stops to refill and empty.
Q: Is the Bissell SpotClean 3861F a wet and dry vacuum?
A: No. Bissell SpotClean 3861F is a spot cleaner that sprays cleaning solution, scrubs with the tool and extracts dirty liquid from soft surfaces. It is intended for stain removal on carpet, rugs and upholstery rather than general dry vacuuming.
Q: How practical is this cleaner for car seats and footwells?
A: Yes. Its portable build, 4.5 metre cord and compact body make it easier to move around a vehicle than a full-size carpet cleaner. It suits fabric seats, boot carpet and footwells, but it is made for spot jobs rather than cleaning an entire car in one pass.
Q: Will I need to refill and empty the tanks often?
A: For small jobs, not usually. The clean tank holds 950ml and the dirty tank holds 850ml, which is practical for spot stains, cushions or a few car areas, but frequent messes across multiple rooms will mean more trips to refill and empty.
Q: What does the self-cleaning tool actually clean after use?
A: It is there to rinse residue from the hose and Tough Stain Tool after cleaning. That helps clear leftover dirty solution from the parts you have just used, but it does not replace emptying the dirty tank and wiping the machine down after a job.
