Very happy
We bought the L1 Comfort to replace a 15 year old Miele and very happy with the purchase. The HEPA filter really does seem to make the air fresher. Love the way the parquet head glides across our timber floors.

5 STAR excellence
An excellent streamlined vacuum cleaner, light, wheels along in every direction, excellent suction, very efficient wide brush head, I love the minimalist style of the accessory, especially that it stores so neatly in the vacuum cleaner body. 5 STAR.

At a glance
This premium bagged barrel vacuum is built for larger homes and people who want cleaner dust disposal, strong hard-floor coverage and better filtration for allergy-sensitive spaces. It is especially useful for mixed surfaces, pet hair and wide open areas thanks to its 41 cm floorhead and auto mode. One limitation is that the bagged design adds ongoing consumable costs compared with bagless alternatives.

Things to consider
The bagged system is hygienic and sealed, but it requires replacement dust bags over time, unlike bagless models.
Pet hair performance score
8/10 - well suited to pet households thanks to strong suction, sealed bag hygiene and HEPA filtration.
Large home suitability
9/10 - designed for larger homes with a 41 cm floorhead, wide-area coverage and 3.5 L bag capacity.
Carpet vs hard floor fit
Best for hard floors and tiles, while still suitable for carpets with selectable and automatic suction modes.
Noise level rating
7/10 - 74 dBA is relatively controlled for a full-size barrel vacuum, though not ultra-quiet.
Portability rating
8/10 - compact barrel design and DynamicDrive rollers help make it easy to manoeuvre around the home.
Key benefits
- Parquet Twister XL 41 cm Floorhead: extra-wide floor coverage helps clean large hard-floor areas faster.
- ComfortFit Bag System: sealed bag handling helps lock in dust for cleaner, more hygienic bag changes.
- HEPA AirClean Filter: captures very fine dust and allergens, making it a strong fit for allergy-sensitive homes.
- Automatic Mode: adjusts suction power to suit different flooring types with less manual intervention.
- DynamicDrive Rollers: supports quieter movement and smoother handling around the home.
- 3.5 L Bag Capacity: larger dust capacity can reduce how often bags need changing.
- Accessory Storage Inside Cleaner: keeps tools organised and easy to access during whole-home cleaning.
- Miele @home App Compatibility: adds smart connectivity for users who want app-linked operation.
Q: Is this vacuum better for hard floors or mostly carpeted homes
A: The Miele Guard L1 Comfort XL is better suited to hard floors and mixed-floor homes than carpet-heavy homes. Its 41cm Parquet Twister XL head covers timber and tiles quickly, but it is not positioned as a specialist deep-carpet model.
Q: Can the Guard L1 Comfort XL handle pet hair well
A: Yes, for light to moderate pet hair around the home. The Miele Guard L1 Comfort XL has strong suction and a sealed bag system, but it is not a specialist pet model with a turbo brush, so heavy fur on carpet may need a pet-focused vacuum.
Q: Will the extra wide floorhead suit smaller rooms and tight spaces
A: Not always. The 41cm Parquet Twister XL head is most useful in open areas where it covers more floor per pass, but a wide head can feel less nimble around chair legs and tight corners, where the onboard tools are the more practical option.
Q: How often will the 3.5L bag need changing
A: The 3.5L bag is designed to hold a useful amount of dust before changing, which suits larger homes and whole-home cleans. Change frequency still depends on floor area, pet hair and how much debris the vacuum picks up each session.
Q: Is 74dBA quiet enough for apartment or evening cleaning
A: Miele Guard L1 Comfort XL runs at 74dBA, so it is not silent, but it sits in a reasonable range for a full-size corded barrel vacuum. DynamicDrive rollers also help the cleaner move more quietly across hard floors than rougher wheels can.
Q: What makes bag changes cleaner on this Miele vacuum
A: The ComfortFit bag system is designed to keep dust sealed inside the bag during removal, so disposal is tidier than emptying a bagless bin. Combined with the HEPA AirClean filter, the vacuum is built for low-dust everyday cleaning rather than messier empty-outs.
