Awesome Vac
I have tried many vacuums over the years and Dyson has never let me down. The V15 is Detect Absolute is a heavy duty vac. Charges very quick and has not lost suction strength over time. Different modes and attachments for curtains, hard floor and carpet. Has a laser light mode which can be turned on optionally to help with dark areas aswell as reveal dust during both day and night. Awesome servicing department also which makes it nice and easy to maintain for a very affordable price. Perfect Vacuum which will give you its money worth. Not a vacuum you will need to be replacing every 3-6 months.

Change to handheld vacuum
Had to replace my Dyson ball vacuum after many happy years with Dyson. Looking for a handheld vacuum for the household. Lightweight, has the bigger storage, holds battery, easy to empty and comes with attachments. Really happy with purchase and recommend Dyson brand.

Dyson V15
Was attended to by Salesman Mitchell at Baringa, he went through all stick vacuums the Dyson and the Shark and what capabilities each one can do, for me I decided to go with the Dyson and I’ve been happy with its operational functions

At a glance
The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute is a premium cordless stick vacuum for households that want powerful whole-home cleaning, especially across mixed floor types. Its standout strengths are strong suction, dust detection with automatic power adjustment, and excellent hard-floor visibility. It is best suited to larger homes and users who value smart feedback on cleaning performance. One limitation is that runtime can drop significantly when using higher power modes.

- Mixed floor cleaning
- Pet hair pickup
- Deep carpet cleaning
- Hard floor dust detection
- Car interior cleaning
Where it works best
- Large homes
- Apartments with mixed flooring

Who it’s for
- Busy households
- Pet owners
- Allergy-conscious users
- Homeowners wanting premium cordless cleaning
- Users wanting a vacuum and handheld in one
Things to consider
While it offers up to 60 minutes of runtime in Eco mode on hard floors, battery life is shorter in stronger cleaning modes, so heavy deep-clean sessions may require more charging than some specialist long-runtime alternatives.
Pet hair performance score
9/10 - strong suction and hair de-tangling cleaner head make it highly capable for homes with shedding pets.
Carpet vs hard floor suitability
Excellent on both, with standout hard-floor visibility from the illuminated cleaner head and automatic power adjustment for carpets in Auto mode.
Portability rating
9/10 - cordless design and one-click handheld conversion make it easy to carry and use around the home and car.
Noise level vs category average
About average for a high-performance cordless stick vacuum, especially when using stronger suction modes.
Allergy friendliness
9/10 - fully sealed filtration captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, making it a strong choice for cleaner exhaust air.
Key benefits
- 240 Air Watts suction: Delivers very strong cordless cleaning performance for embedded dirt and stubborn debris.
- Fluffy Optic cleaner head: Illuminates fine dust on hard floors so you can see and target particles that are easy to miss.
- Piezo dust sensor: Measures and counts microscopic dust particles and can automatically increase suction in Auto mode when needed.
- LCD screen with real-time feedback: Shows what has been picked up and reports system performance during cleaning.
- Digital Motorbar cleaner head: Deep cleans carpets and hard floors while helping remove wrapped hair from the brush bar.
- Up to 60 minutes runtime: Supports longer cleaning sessions in Eco mode on hard floors before needing a recharge.
- Converts to handheld in one click: Makes it easier to clean stairs, upholstery, car interiors and tight spaces.
- 99.99% filtration at 0.3 microns: Helps trap very fine particles for cleaner exhaust air during vacuuming.
Q: Does the V15 Detect adjust suction on its own?
A: Yes. Dyson V15 Detect Absolute can raise suction automatically in Auto mode when the piezo sensor detects more dust, and the Digital Motorbar head senses floor resistance. That adjustment does not work the same way in every mode.
Q: Will the battery last for a full house clean?
A: For many homes, yes. Dyson V15 Detect Absolute runs for up to 60 minutes in Eco mode on hard floors, but stronger modes shorten that time, so a full top-to-bottom clean may need more battery management in larger homes.
Q: Is the dust light useful on carpet as well?
A: No. The Fluffy Optic cleaner head is designed to reveal fine dust on hard floors, where the light can show particles normal room light misses. For carpet cleaning, the Digital Motorbar head is the more suitable option.
Q: Can it handle long hair without tangling badly?
A: Yes. The Digital Motorbar cleaner head uses de-tangling technology, so hair wrap is reduced during normal floor cleaning. It can still need more frequent bin emptying in homes with heavy hair or pet shedding.
Q: Does the LCD screen show more than battery time?
A: Yes. The LCD shows the size and quantity of dust being picked up and reports system performance in real time while you vacuum. It is a cleaning readout, not a room map or a guide to where dust is next.
Q: Can this Dyson replace a separate handheld for the car?
A: Yes. Dyson V15 Detect Absolute converts to a handheld in one click, which suits seats, footwells and other tight spots. It is still a vacuum first, so tool choice and reach matter more than compact size alone.
