  Not as good as I thought it was going to be

  I'm disappointed with my purchase, I don't feel that its sucking power is all that great, certainly it doesn't pick up all debris that is on the floor. Maybe my expectations were too high. This is the first time I've bought a vacuum cleaner that wasn't a Dyson, I think I'll be going back to Dyson unless I was just unlucky and this particular vacuum cleaner is a lemon.

  Impressive performance

  Our old and expensive Dyson was overdue for replacement but I was not convinced another Dyson was the logical choice. A friend suggested I take a look at the Shark range of cordless models. The Power Select seemed the right fit for our needs. Assembly took about 20 mins and a full charge of the battery took about 5 hours. I first ran the machine over a carpeted floor that had been thoroughly vacuumed recently. The amount of material picked up by this machine was substantial. For a cordless vacuum, this device has really strong suction. The shaft “folds” to allow the head to travel under beds, etc with ease. This model drops in to a stand- alone docking station which immediately deposits your vacuumed waste into a larger holding bin which only needs emptying every few weeks. The main cleaning head detects the type of floor and adjusts suction accordingly. This can be overridden. The head also has the ability to detect edges like skirting boards and directs the suction to that edge. The machine is relatively heavy, but I figure that the power it puts out more than justifies the extra weight. Battery life is very good but be aware recharging time is 5 or so hours. Take a look at this brand before making a purchase. The speca are impressive.

  Always had Dyson stick vacs, but was not going to be buying another. This vac has exceeded expectations. Seems to have a decent run time. Suction is good and love that it self empties! Best feature- The roller doesn’t wrap hair around it- thought that would be a gimmick, but it actually sucks hair straight up and nothing around the roller!!!! Excellent with 3 long hair females in our family. No complaints, only thing I would have loved is a spare battery, which you can purchase separately, but should come in package. Overall happy.
