Great once its installed
Firstly this machine washes well and the plates and cutlery are dry when its all finished. Its simple to operate once its installed, but then the installation issues. This machine has an anti-flood valve on the end of the inlet hose which will in no way fit through any hole cut for the earlier style inlet hoses. So a larger hole must be cut. There was no way I could do this because of the positioning of the plumbing in the kitchen - I imagine many kitchens will be similar. So I had to cut a hole 25cm x 8cm in the side of the cabinet to accommodate the hoses without ending up with a kink in the hose. How simple it would have been to make the anti-flood valve detachable. This would allow the hose to pass through the smaller cabinet holes in most kitchens. Second this is a fully integrated machine which means it looks like a kitchen cabinet door when closed. The dishwasher has to be screwed to the cabinet to prevent it falling over, so I wanted to test the dishwasher worked before screwing it into place. It didn't work - only the reset button worked. I checked the manual to see if I had missed anything but no all seemed in order. So I called tech support at Bosch. I explained the situation for which the assistant had no remedy so she booked a technician to come out. When the technician came out he opened the door and the control panel came to life. He explained that when the machine is fully installed, screwed to the cabinet you have to open the door to see the control panel. But because the machine was not fully fitted I didn't need to open the door to see the controls, thats why it did not work. How simple would it be to add one simple sentence to the instructions 'Open the door to activate the control panel'. So my advice to most people is pay the installation fee, its worth it to avoid the headaches and cost of any extra tools you may need. BTW I used to install dishwashers, washing machines, stoves and refrigeration for a living. Assuming the holes are already in the cabinets for the pipework it should take no more than 10mins to install a dishwasher. For an integrated machine add 30mins for full installation. This took over 3 hours. Its a great dishwasher once its installed - its so quiet you just don't hear it running, but the installation is an unnecessarily painful process in my view. Re buying from Good Guys, I've bought a lot of products from them because they're usually best on price, just remember to ask the sales person when the product will be in stock or you could end up waiting 3 months as we did.
