Very happy with purchase.
I have lovely tiles but they mark and ordinary moping won't remove them. Also being able to get a great clean without the use of chemicals is a huge plus. Delivery was quick too.

Perfect steam mop.
Happy with this steam mop, I have tiles all through and it never leaves any streaks. Easy to use and just throw the cloth mop into the washing machine. There are little scented discs that slide into the bottom to give off a nice smell as well. Two settings for steam and a scrubbing brush attached.

Great mop, but not what I wanted
Great mop, but no where is it stated that you have to continually hold trigger to receive steam. If you have a large area and minimal strength in hands, you'll struggle.

Powerfresh Deluxe - great unit, but misleading advertising
The unit was light weight and did a good job. But I did a lot of research into steam mops, including watching the Bissell videos. It is not clearly stated that the button must be held in for steam to run - if you have a large house, this gets tiring super quick!

At a glance
The Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe is a mid-range steam mop designed for sealed hard floors in everyday homes. It is easy to manoeuvre, offers adjustable steam on demand, and includes helpful extras like a scrubber, carpet glider and washable pads. It suits routine cleaning on timber, laminate and tile, but it is not the best choice for large whole-home deep cleaning if you want a bigger tank or cordless convenience.
What it’s great for
- Everyday hard floor cleaning
- Sealed timber floor care
- Laminate and tile maintenance
- Sticky spot cleaning
- Light carpet refreshing
Where it works best
- Family homes
- Apartments
- Kitchens
- Bathrooms
- Living areas with sealed hard floors
Who it’s for
- Homeowners
- Renters
- Busy households
- People wanting chemical-free floor cleaning
- Users wanting a lightweight steam mop
Things to consider
Compared with more premium steam mops, it has a relatively modest 0.6 L water tank and uses a corded design, so larger homes may need more refill and cable management.
Pet owner suitability
Good for homes with pets thanks to steam cleaning for sealed hard floors and a scrubber for sticky paw marks, but it is not a vacuum and does not remove pet hair on its own.
Allergy friendliness
8/10 - steam cleaning can sanitise sealed hard floors without harsh chemicals when used as directed, which may suit households sensitive to strong cleaning products.
Multi-surface cleaning score
7/10 - works well on sealed timber, laminate and tile, with a carpet glider for refreshing carpets, but it is primarily built for sealed hard floors.
Ease of use rating
8.5/10 - lightweight 2.81 kg build, steam-on-demand trigger and 7.62 m cord make it straightforward for regular home cleaning.
Noise level vs category average
About average for a steam mop - generally quieter than many vacuum-based floor cleaners because it relies on steam rather than suction.
Key benefits
- 1500 W steam power: Delivers strong steam performance for routine cleaning and sanitising of sealed hard floors.
- 0.6 L water tank: Provides a practical tank size for regular room-by-room cleaning without constant refilling.
- Lightweight 2.81 kg design: Makes the mop easier to carry, steer and use across everyday cleaning sessions.
- 7.62 m power cord: Gives you a longer reach across larger rooms before needing to unplug.
- Triangular mop head: Helps clean closer to edges, corners and awkward spots.
- Flip-down scrubber brush: Adds extra scrubbing power for stuck-on marks and tougher messes.
- Washable microfibre mop pads: Supports lower ongoing consumable costs with reusable pads.
- Steam-on-demand trigger: Lets you control steam output more precisely for lightly damp cleaning results.
Q: Can this steam mop be used on timber floors?
A: Yes, on sealed timber floors. Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe is designed for sealed hard floors such as sealed timber, laminate and tile, but it is not suitable for unsealed, waxed or moisture-sensitive floors.
Q: Will the carpet glider actually clean carpet or just refresh it?
A: It is for refreshing carpet, not full carpet washing. The carpet glider lets the Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe pass over carpet with steam, but this model is built around sealed hard floors rather than deep carpet cleaning.
Q: How wet do floors get when using the steam trigger?
A: Floors should be lightly damp rather than soaked when you use the steam-on-demand trigger properly. Low and high steam settings help you match moisture to the mess, which is useful on sealed hard floors that do not need excess water.
Q: Are replacement pads easy to buy for model 1979F?
A: Yes. Model 1979F uses Bissell replacement pad set 1016F, which includes 2 reusable microfibre mop pads and 4 fragrance discs. That gives you a straightforward replacement option once the included pads wear down.
Q: Can it reach corners and sticky marks around skirting boards?
A: Yes. The triangular mop head helps the Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe get closer to corners and edges, and the flip-down scrubber adds extra contact for stubborn marks. It is better for spot scrubbing than broad carpet or upholstery work.
Q: Does the 7.62m cord suit larger rooms without unplugging?
A: Yes, for many living areas and open spaces. The 7.62m cord gives the Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe more reach than short-cord cleaners, though the actual area covered in one go still depends on where the power point sits.
Q: Is the PowerFresh Deluxe light enough to carry upstairs?
A: Yes. At 2.81kg, the Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe is light for a corded steam mop, so it is easier to carry between rooms or levels. The trade-off is that you still need to manage the power cord while moving around the home.
