Cleans pretty well
I bought this carpet cleaner to clean some rugs. It cleans quite well but like others have said the dirty water tank fills up pretty quick. I think I had to refill and empty 3 times for a smallish rug.

Good Carpet Cleaner
Was a bit unsure on this to carry out the task of cleaning the rugs and giving the upstairs carpet a go. It’s actually really easy to use and does work. My only gripes are the tank on the front that collects the dirty water is way too small and only fills to a 1/3rd so why make it so bi. Also the machine uses much more cleaner than I anticipated. Went through over 2ltrs in a couple of hours. Would

At a glance
The Bissell PowerForce Pet is a compact upright carpet cleaner built for households managing pet hair, tracked-in dirt and everyday stains. It suits buyers who want whole-room carpet cleaning plus a tool for stairs and upholstery. Key strengths are its lightweight design, 4-row brush and practical tank sizes. Its main limitation is that it is a simpler, lower-powered option than larger premium carpet washers.
What it’s great for
- Pet mess clean-up
- Whole-room carpet washing
- Upholstery cleaning
- Area rug refreshes
- Stairs and spot cleaning
Where it works best
- Homes with pets
- Apartments
- Small to medium houses
- Carpeted living rooms
- Bedrooms
- Stairs and furniture areas
Who it’s for
- Pet owners
- Busy households
- First-time carpet cleaner buyers
- Renters
- Families needing a compact upright cleaner
Things to consider
It is well suited to regular household carpet cleaning, but buyers wanting faster drying, larger tanks or more intensive deep-cleaning performance may prefer a bigger premium model.
Pet stain removal score
8/10 - built for pet households with a tough stain tool and brush system that targets ground-in dirt and common pet messes.
Large area suitability
7/10 - the 2.36 L clean tank and 6 m cord are practical for whole-room cleaning, though it is not a large-capacity premium machine.
Ease of use
8/10 - compact upright format, lightweight handling and a self-cleaning stain tool make it approachable for regular home use.
Drying time rating
6/10 - suitable for regular carpet washing, but it does not highlight a dedicated quick-dry or heat-assisted drying feature.
Key benefits
- 4-row DeepReach PowerBrush: helps lift ground-in dirt from carpet fibres during routine deep cleans.
- Tough stain tool: makes it easier to target pet messes on stairs, furniture and other above-floor areas.
- Compact lightweight design: easier to manoeuvre around rooms and simpler to store between cleaning sessions.
- 2.36 L clean tank: supports longer cleaning runs before needing a refill.
- 1.3 L dirty tank: gives practical capacity for repeated room cleaning before emptying.
- 6 m cord: provides extended reach across larger rooms with fewer power point changes.
- Self-cleaning stain tool: helps keep the attachment more convenient to maintain after messy jobs.
- Multi-surface soft furnishing use: suitable for carpets, area rugs and upholstery for more flexible household cleaning.
Q: Is this carpet cleaner big enough for a full lounge room?
A: Yes. Bissell PowerForce Pet is suited to regular whole-room cleaning, with a 2.36L clean tank and 6m cord that reduce stop-start cleaning in a typical lounge room. For larger homes, the smaller tanks mean more refilling and emptying.
Q: Does it suit regular pet messes more than heavy deep cleaning?
A: Yes. Bissell PowerForce Pet is built for routine carpet washing in pet households, using a 600W motor and 4-row brush to lift everyday dirt and mess. It is a simpler upright cleaner, so very heavy restoration jobs may need a larger model.
Q: Can it clean stairs and fabric couches without moving the whole unit?
A: Yes. Bissell PowerForce Pet includes a tough stain tool for stairs, upholstery and furniture, so you can target smaller messes without running the floor head over everything. It is best for fabric surfaces listed by the maker, not every delicate textile.
Q: Do I still need to vacuum before using the PowerForce Pet?
A: Yes. Bissell PowerForce Pet is designed to wash carpets and lift embedded dirt from fibres, but loose hair and debris are better removed first with a vacuum. Pre-vacuuming helps the brush and tanks focus on washing rather than dry pickup.
Q: Will it work well on area rugs as well as carpet?
A: Yes, on suitable area rugs. Bissell PowerForce Pet is made for carpets, area rugs and upholstery, but rug thickness and pile can change how easily the floor head moves. Delicate, specialty or heavily textured rugs are better treated with extra care.
Q: Is the dirty water tank large enough for repeated cleaning passes?
A: Yes, for regular home use. Bissell PowerForce Pet has a 1.3L dirty tank, which is practical for repeated passes on everyday carpet cleaning jobs. In homes with larger carpeted areas or heavier soil, it will need emptying more often.
