    Great Sound Bar

Wow you just plug and play , it matches our TV both being TCL products and it works a treat , really brings to life movies or just listen to your favourite songs on Spotify. It connects seamlessly every time you fire up the TV , had a lot more expensive sound bar at one stage and was always hit and miss on the connection with the TV . Sound quality is right up there with top end equipment.

It suits movie lovers, gamers and families wanting fuller bass and better surround immersion. Things to consider

It delivers strong immersion and output for the category, but premium alternatives can offer more precise surround steering, better music detail and more advanced room calibration.

Tv compatibility score

9/10 - Excellent fit for mid-size to large modern TVs, especially for buyers wanting a noticeable upgrade in scale and immersion.

Movie night suitability

9/10 - Strong choice for cinematic viewing thanks to Dolby Atmos support, surround channels and high output.

Music playback quality

7.5/10 - Powerful and engaging for casual music listening, though dedicated premium audio systems can sound more refined and detailed.

Room size suitability

Medium to large rooms

Installation ease

Moderate - easier than a traditional home theatre system, but more involved than a simple all-in-one bar due to its multi-channel setup.

Key benefits

  • 5.1.2-channel audio: Creates a more enveloping surround effect than a basic 2.0 or 2.1 soundbar setup.
  • 780W power output: Provides high-volume, room-filling sound that is better suited to larger lounge spaces than low-power compact bars.
  • Dolby Atmos support: Adds a more cinematic sense of height and space for compatible movies, shows and games.
  • Dedicated centre channel: Helps make dialogue clearer and easier to follow during busy action scenes.
  • Surround-capable speaker layout: Delivers a more immersive rear and side sound experience than TV speakers alone.
  • High-output bass performance: Adds stronger low-end impact for explosions, soundtracks and sports coverage.
  • Single-system TV audio upgrade: Gives you a much bigger audio improvement without needing a full separate AV receiver setup.
  • Home cinema focus: Better suited to blockbuster films and dramatic streaming content than relying on flat, built-in television speakers.

Q: Does the TCL C935U need separate rear speakers to deliver Dolby Atmos sound?

A: No. The C935U is sold as a 5.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos soundbar, so the height effects are created by the soundbar system itself rather than bundled rear speakers. It can still sound less wraparound than a package with dedicated rear surrounds.

Q: What do I need to hear Dolby Atmos properly on the TCL C935U?

A: You need Dolby Atmos content from a compatible TV app, streaming device, Blu-ray player or game console, plus a connection path that supports Atmos audio. Standard stereo TV broadcasts will still play, but they will not produce true Atmos height effects.

Q: Is 780W peak power on the TCL C935U enough for a larger lounge room?

A: Yes. A 780W peak rating is suited to medium and many larger living rooms, especially for movie playback with stronger bass and clearer effects than a basic TV speaker setup. Peak power is not the same as continuous output, so room acoustics still matter.

Q: Can the TCL C935U improve dialogue as well as movie effects?

A: Yes. In a 5.1.2 soundbar layout, the centre channel is there to anchor voices more clearly than most flat-panel TV speakers, while the extra channels handle surround and height cues. That helps speech stay more focused during busy action scenes.

Q: Does the TCL C935U support DTS:X as well as Dolby Atmos?

A: Yes. The scraped specs list both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which matters if sound is coming from discs or media devices that use different surround formats. If the source is only stereo or standard 5.1, the bar will play that format instead.

Q: Is the TCL C935U a good match if the TV speakers sound thin or lack bass?

A: Yes. This model is designed to add fuller low-end impact and more spacious sound than built-in TV speakers, which are usually limited by the TV's slim cabinet. The difference is most noticeable with films, concerts and games rather than basic news viewing.
