A solid entry level TV by Sony
The Sony is a Google TV based Android device, that can run most Android TV apps. It has a decent, but not overly generous, amount of on board internal storage for installing apps into. 7.4Gb of on board storage. So while you need to be a bit selective in what apps you do install, you do have enough breathing space to not have to constantly worry about running out of app space. Its picture quality is good, though its refresh rate is not quite fast enough for serious gaming. It uses the previous generation of the Triluminous Pro display system, that used to be the preserve of the previous generation of higher end Sony Bravia TVs. It does not pass the full 5.1 channel audio encodings through optical audio. Not having an eARC capable home theatre receiver, I do not know if it does the correct pass through on eARC. As a stereo TV, it works perfectly fine. On the remote, there is no physical hamburger menu button, and the firmware on the TV does not support such a button. This restricts what Android TV apps can be used with the Sony. The EPG clock and programs times are routinely out of whack. System time zone is set to Australian Eastern Standard Time since I'm in Brisbane, but the EPG clock routinely displays Australian Eastern Daylight Time, Sydney and Melbourne time. The start and end times for TV shows, also regularly show program times starting and ending an hour later than their actual broadcast times, irrespective of what timezone the EPG clock is showing. This makes the EPG on the TV effectively useless. So why do I describe it as a
