    Instant heat

Finally found a cook top that's bigger than the previous ceramic Westinghouse I'd bought many years ago, it was an odd size with most induction cook tops smaller that the cutout! Both my wife and I are super happy with this one. Typical induction, instant heat, instant off, and my son says it's the quietest induction cook top (on full heat) he's heard. Yes all induction cook tops hum and they are louder the higher the heat. Easy to use controls, even tried out the boil protection, works well.

Q: What does BoilProtect do on the Westinghouse WHI743BD, and when will it not work?

A: BoilProtect detects rising bubbles and automatically drops a pot of water to a low simmer, so it helps stop boil-overs during tasks like pasta or vegetables. It applies to stainless steel and enamelled pots filled with water only, not every pan or cooking liquid.

Q: Do I need a compatible rangehood to use Hob2Hood on this cooktop?

A: Yes. Hob2Hood only works with a compatible rangehood that supports the same feature, so the cooktop cannot control just any existing hood. When paired correctly, the hood can switch on and adjust fan speed automatically as cooking changes.

Q: How much space should I allow for the Westinghouse WHI743BD in a benchtop?

A: The cooktop itself measures 700mm wide, 520mm deep and 51mm high. That gives the appliance size, but replacement suitability also depends on the benchtop cut-out and clearances, so compare your opening carefully and discuss with your electrician.

Q: What does PowerBoost add in everyday cooking on the WHI743BD?

A: PowerBoost gives a selected induction zone a short burst of higher heat for faster boiling or heating than normal settings. It is most useful for getting water to the boil quickly or bringing a pan up to temperature before dropping back to regular control.

Q: Is a 70cm four-zone layout better for larger pots than a typical 60cm cooktop?

A: Often yes. The 700mm width usually gives more room between the four cooking zones than many 60cm models, which can make it easier to use two larger pots or pans at once without handles crowding each other. Bench fit still needs to be checked first.

Q: How should the glass surface on the Westinghouse WHI743BD be cleaned?

A: Let the surface cool, then wipe with a soft cloth and a cleaner made for ceramic or induction cooktops. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh scouring products, because they can mark the glass, and clean sugary spills promptly to help prevent baked-on residue.
