Stain accident ready!
The Shark Stainforce Portable Stain Remover is a really handy tool to have in our cleaning arsenal! We have an elderly cat with a renal problem which means regular cleanups on the carpet, sofa and bed! This portable unit used along with the Stainforce spray is so easy to grab in the handy caddy quickly and suck up as much moisture as possible to help remove the urine or stain quickly and the spray helps to remove any odour as well. It was just what we were looking for!

At a glance
The Shark StainForce is a cordless portable spot cleaner made for quick stain removal on carpet, upholstery, stairs and car interiors. It suits homes with pets or children thanks to strong suction, lightweight handling and a self-cleaning function. Its main limitation is that it is better for small messes and spot treatment than cleaning large carpeted areas.
What it’s great for
- Spot cleaning
- Pet mess clean-ups
- Upholstery stains
- Car interior cleaning
- Stair cleaning
- Quick spill response
Where it works best
- Homes
- Apartments
- Stairs

- Upholstered furniture
- Cars
Who it’s for
- Pet owners
- Parents
- Apartment dwellers
- Car owners
- Busy households
Things to consider
This cleaner is built for portable spot treatment rather than deep-cleaning whole rooms, so larger carpets are better handled by a full-size carpet washer.
Pet stain removal score
8/10 - well suited to muddy paw prints, tracked-in dirt and small pet accidents on carpet and upholstery.
Large area suitability
Best for small areas, spot treatment and quick clean-ups rather than full-room carpet cleaning.
Ease of use
9/10 - lightweight, cordless and simple to grab for fast mess removal, with self-cleaning support after use.
Drying time rating
7/10 - targeted suction helps extract moisture well, though drying will still vary by fabric and stain severity.
Key benefits
- Cordless Design: Lets you clean stains on stairs, upholstery and in cars without needing a power outlet nearby.
- Lightweight Build: At 1.05 kg, it is easier to carry around the home and manoeuvre into tight spaces.
- Targeted Suction: Helps lift fresh spills and stubborn spots from soft surfaces with focused stain removal.
- Self-Cleaning Function: Rinses the unit with clean water after use so it is easier to maintain between jobs.
- Stain Tool Included: The 2.75 inch stain tool is designed to tackle concentrated marks on carpet and upholstery.
- Crevice Tool Included: Makes it easier to reach narrow gaps, edges and awkward corners in furniture and vehicles.
- Grab and Go Caddy: Keeps the cleaner, accessories and solution together for faster setup when messes happen.
- 500 mL Cleaning Solution Included: Gives you a ready-to-use starting supply for stain treatment straight out of the box.
Q: Can this replace a full size carpet cleaner for big rooms?
A: No. Shark StainForce is built for spot treatment, not whole-room carpet washing. Its cordless, tank-free design makes it quick for spills, stairs and upholstery, but larger carpeted areas are better handled by a full-size carpet cleaner.
Q: Is Shark StainForce good for cleaning car seats and footwells?
A: Yes. Shark StainForce is suited to car interiors because the cordless 14.4V design is easier to move around seats, footwells and boot trim. The crevice tool helps in narrow gaps, but it is intended for stains and small dirty areas, not a full interior detail.
Q: How compact is it to carry upstairs or store away?
A: Shark StainForce weighs 1.05kg, so it is easy to carry upstairs or out to the car for quick messes. Its slim body measures 56cm high, 7.5cm wide and 10cm deep, which suits cupboard storage better than a full-size carpet washer.
Q: Does it come with stain spray and cleaning tools included?
A: Yes. Shark StainForce includes a spray head, a 500ml chemical bottle, a 2.75 inch stain tool and a crevice tool. That gives you a ready-to-use setup for fresh spills straight out of the box, without needing separate accessories first.
Q: What does the self cleaning function actually do after use?
A: The self-cleaning function rinses the unit with clean water after use, which helps clear leftover solution and lifted dirt from the cleaner itself. It is a maintenance feature for the machine, not a deep-clean mode for carpet or upholstery.
Q: Can it clean sofas rugs and dining chairs without a power point?
A: Yes. Shark StainForce runs cordless, so you can treat spots on sofas, rugs and fabric dining chairs without staying near a wall outlet. It is most practical for targeted stains and quick accidents rather than cleaning every soft surface in one session.
