The best stick vacuum
It’s so quiet, and the suction is the best. It performs way better than our old Dyson. So happy with our purchase.

Love this vaccy . Purchased online - just wished it was stated somewhere that the battery was built in and so you need a power point close by. Prefer to have the battery charging on the laundry bench and the appliances hidden in the cupboard.

Practical and Powerful Everyday Cleaning
The Miele DuoFlex HX1 is a well-built cordless vacuum that delivers strong suction and versatile cleaning across hard floors and carpets. It handles pet hair and everyday messes with confidence, and the ergonomic design and quality attachments make it easy to use. The dustbin is a bit small and battery life is average, but for most homes it strikes a good balance between performance and convenience. If you want reliable, premium cordless cleaning without the premium price of top-tier brands, the DuoFlex HX1 is worth considering.

My Miele
Ease of use, not heavy when using for a period of time, charge time adequate for my use. A little bulky after removal of shaft to use in the car, only reason I didn't give 5 stars.

At a glance
The Miele Duoflex HX1 is a lightweight cordless stick vacuum designed for mixed-surface homes needing fast, regular cleaning. It suits users who want easy handling, handheld flexibility and strong dust filtration for everyday mess. Key strengths include automatic floor adjustment, up to 55 minutes runtime and simple wall storage. Its main limitation is the 0.3 L bin, which can need frequent emptying on larger cleans.
What it’s great for
- Everyday Cleaning
- Quick Touch-Ups
- Mixed-Surface Homes
- Stairs Cleaning
- Car Interior Cleaning
- Upholstery Cleaning
Where it works best
- Apartments
- Family Homes
- Multi-Surface Living Areas
- Stairs
- Bedrooms
- Cars
Who it’s for
- Apartment Dwellers
- Busy Households
- Allergy-Conscious Users
- Owners Wanting a Lightweight Vacuum
- Users Needing Stick and Handheld Flexibility
Things to consider
The 0.3 L bin is smaller than some premium stick vacuums, so it may need more frequent emptying during larger whole-home cleans.
Pet hair performance score
7/10 - Good for routine pet hair pickup on floors and upholstery, but not positioned as a specialist pet model.
Carpet vs hard floor suitability
Well suited to both hard floors and carpets, with automatic floor detection helping it adapt between surfaces.
Portability rating
9/10 - At 3.1 kg with cordless stick and handheld modes, it is easy to move around the home and into cars.
Noise level vs category average
About average for a cordless stick vacuum
Allergy friendliness
8/10 - The hygiene filter traps 99.99 percent of fine dust, supporting lower dust release during cleaning.
Key benefits
- Digital Efficiency Motor: Delivers strong pickup for everyday dust and debris across multiple floor types.
- MultiFloor electrobrush: Helps lift dirt from hard floors, carpets and upholstery with one main cleaning head.
- Automatic floor detection: Adjusts suction power to suit the surface, reducing the need for manual changes while cleaning.
- Up to 55 minutes runtime: Supports longer uninterrupted cleaning sessions before recharging.
- 3.1 kg body: Keeps the vacuum easier to carry for stairs, quick room-to-room cleaning and car use.
- Stick-to-handheld conversion: Makes it more versatile for furniture, upholstery, stairs and tight spaces.
- Hygiene filter: Traps 99.99 percent of fine dust to help reduce dust release during vacuuming.
- Wall-mount storage: Keeps the vacuum stored neatly and ready for fast access between cleans.
Q: Will it handle both carpet and hard floors without switching heads?
A: Yes. Miele Duoflex HX1 uses a MultiFloor electrobrush and automatic floor detection, so it can move between hard floors and carpet without changing the main floor head. Upholstery and car cleaning are better suited to handheld use.
Q: How long does the battery last in normal floor cleaning?
A: Miele Duoflex HX1 runs for up to 55 minutes on power level 1 without the electrobrush connected. Normal floor cleaning with the electrobrush will use more battery, so expect a shorter run time for carpet and mixed-surface jobs.
Q: Is the 0.3L bin enough for a whole house clean?
A: It suits short to moderate cleaning sessions better than long, heavy cleans. Miele Duoflex HX1 has a 0.3L bin, so small to medium homes are a better match, while larger homes may need more frequent emptying during one clean.
Q: Is this vacuum suitable for stairs and car interiors?
A: Yes. Miele Duoflex HX1 converts from a stick vacuum to a handheld unit, which makes it practical for stairs, upholstery and car interiors. The 3.1kg design is manageable for quick jobs, but extended above-floor cleaning can feel heavier than floor use.
Q: Does it work well for pet hair around the home?
A: Yes, for everyday pet hair on floors, rugs and upholstery. Miele Duoflex HX1 combines a digital efficiency motor with an electrobrush, but it is not presented as a pet-specific model for heavy shedding across large areas.
Q: Is the Miele Duoflex HX1 better for apartments or large homes?
A: Miele Duoflex HX1 is a stronger fit for apartments and small to medium homes than large homes. Its cordless design is convenient for regular touch-ups, but longer cleans can mean more battery management and more bin emptying.
