I bought my new TV without leaving home! My daughter had my wish list. She went to the MacGregor store and explained my requirements to Naman who listened carefully and made a recommendation. They then rang me and the 3 of us chatted. Honestly it was probably as good as being in the store. I had done some homework so had questions. I’m really happy with my choice. My daughter paid on my behalf and the TV was delivered within 3 days. I was thrilled. My neighbour helped with the unboxing and I did most of the set up. It was easy. The TV I chose is a 55cm Hisense QLED Smart TV. It is easy to understand. Easy to operate and we haven’t had any fights yet. Again, my thanks to Naman, The Good Guys and my darling daughter.

Bought a TV from The Good Guys with the promise of “2 day delivery”. Cute idea. In reality it turned into “maybe sometime this month”. The delivery company, Global Express, is neither very global nor particularly express. After hearing nothing for days, I called The Good Guys. The person on the phone cheerfully says, “Oh I see the problem, we don’t have any in stock at the store near you, but we have one in another store, would you like it?” Let me think. I bought a TV. You have a TV. Would I like the TV? Yes. Why did it take me calling for anyone to notice this? So I wait another week. Global Express gives no real tracking, their site never updates, and communication is basically interpretive silence. The one time I leave the house for 30 minutes to go to the shops, they send an SMS 15 minutes before arriving. I see it when I get home. Missed delivery. Then I get another SMS: “You can pick up your 55" TV from our warehouse.” Right. Let me just carry a 55" TV under my arm, and I will just walk it home from the warehouse which is 2 km from my house, or maybe just cut out my entire back row of seats so I can squeeze it in for this heroic expedition. I call The Good Guys again. They say they will arrange redelivery. Another week passes. No TV, no SMS, no updated delivery date. Just nothing. By now it has been three weeks and I still do not have a TV, so I call and ask for a refund. They agree, say they will get Global Express to send it back and then process the refund. The following week, I get an SMS that the TV is about to be delivered. Fifteen minutes later the driver calls from my front door. I explain I already cancelled and will not be accepting it. He is confused. I am not. Call The Good Guys again. “Oops, that should not have happened, you will still get your refund, but now we have to wait until it is sent back to us.” What do I think about the TV itself? No idea. It looked great in the pictures, but I guess I will never know. Maybe you should buy it and find out. Just make sure you take your large SUV or truck to pick it up in person, or be ready for a 2 km TV-carrying workout, because relying on their delivery partner did not work out so well for me.
