At a glance
The Therabody G5 Theragun Pro is a premium massage gun for people who want strong, targeted muscle treatment at home, after training or during regular recovery. It suits active users, athletes and anyone wanting easier reach across the body thanks to its triangle handle. Key strengths are deep percussion, guided routines and versatile attachments. One limitation is that it is heavier than some lighter everyday-use models at 1.25 kg.
What it’s great for
- Deep muscle recovery
- Post-workout massage
- Everyday muscle relief
- Targeted body treatment
- Guided recovery routines
Where it works best
- Home gym
- Bedroom
- Living room
- Physiotherapy-style home recovery setup
- Shared living spaces
Who it’s for
- Athletes
- Gym-goers
- Active adults
- Recovery-focused users
- People with hard-to-reach muscle areas
Things to consider
At 1.25 kg, it is not as light or as travel-friendly as smaller massage guns designed mainly for quick daily touch-ups.
Muscle relief effectiveness
9/10 - Strong 16 mm amplitude and adjustable 1750 to 2400 rpm performance make it highly capable for deep, targeted muscle work.
Ease of use score
8/10 - The triangle handle, guided routines and OLED display improve usability, though the 1.25 kg weight can feel noticeable in longer sessions.
Portability rating
7/10 - Compact enough for home storage and moving between rooms, but heavier than more travel-oriented massage guns.
Noise level vs category average
Quieter than category average for a high-power percussion massager
Family suitability
Good for multi-user households thanks to adjustable speeds, guided routines and six easy-to-clean attachments, though its stronger percussion may be more than some casual users need.
Key benefits
- 16 mm amplitude: Delivers deeper percussive treatment for stronger muscle stimulation and recovery-focused use.
- Adjustable speed range: Runs from 1750 to 2400 rpm so you can choose gentler or more intense treatment depending on the muscle area.
- Triangle handle: Gives multiple grip positions to reach shoulders, back and legs with less wrist strain.
- Six interchangeable attachments: Helps tailor massage feel and coverage for different muscle groups and sensitivity levels.
- OLED screen with guided routines: Makes it easier to follow built-in programs such as Sleep, Warm Up, Recovery and Theragun Break.
- EQ-150 brushless motor: Provides strong percussion while supporting quieter operation than many high-power massage devices.
- Up to 150 minutes battery life: Supports multiple sessions between charges for regular weekly use.
- USB-C charging: Simplifies recharging with a widely used cable standard.
Q: Is the Theragun Pro G5 too strong for casual users?
A: It can be. Theragun PRO uses a 16mm amplitude and a professional-style setup, so it suits buyers wanting firm percussion and adjustment options. If you prefer a simpler, gentler massage gun, this model may feel like more intensity than you need.
Q: Can the triangle handle actually help reach awkward areas by yourself?
A: Yes. The patented triangle handle gives you multiple grip positions, which makes it easier to angle the device across areas like the upper back, calves and hamstrings. It improves reach, but some spots can still be awkward without help.
Q: Do the guided routines run on the device itself?
A: Yes. Theragun PRO has an OLED screen with 4 visual guided routines built into the device: Sleep, Warm Up, Recovery and Theragun Break. That means you can follow a preset sequence on-screen instead of guessing speed changes as you go.
Q: Is this massage gun quiet enough for shared spaces at home?
A: Yes. Theragun PRO uses a brushless motor with QuietForce technology, and its motor is listed as 20% less noisy than the previous design. It is not silent, but it is better suited to home use than many loud, high-power massage guns.
Q: What comes with the Theragun Pro G5 in the box?
A: Theragun PRO includes 6 attachments for different use areas and massage styles. The attachments are easy to clean, which is useful if more than one adult in the household will use the device, but this is still a full-size recovery model rather than a compact travel kit.
Q: Is the Theragun Pro G5 good for travel or gym bags?
A: It is portable, but it is not a compact travel-first model. Theragun PRO is designed as a full-featured recovery device with a 150-minute battery, so it suits taking between home and gym more than packing light for minimal luggage.
