Samsung 228GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive
I purchased this drive to use in my Chery Tiggo9 Ultimate, I've stored Video & Music Files of different formats and it works like a treat. It’s small, but substantial as it’s made of metal. A Great Product.

At a glance
The Samsung 128GB Bar Plus USB 3.1 Flash Drive is a compact portable storage option for students, professionals and everyday users who need reliable file transfer on the go. Its metal body, keyring loop and fast read speeds up to 400MB/s make it easy to carry and quick to use. The main limitation is that it is built for everyday storage rather than rugged outdoor or ultra-high-performance specialist workloads.

Things to consider
It offers strong everyday performance, but premium specialist drives may provide faster sustained write speeds, higher capacities or tougher protection for demanding workflows.
Student suitability score
9/10 - easy to carry, good capacity for coursework and media, and fast enough for everyday study tasks.
Ruggedness rating
7/10 - the metal body is sturdier than many plastic drives, but it is not a specialised rugged model.
Keychain portability
Excellent - integrated keyring loop and compact size make it easy to carry with keys or on a bag.
File transfer speed vs category
8/10 - faster than many everyday USB drives with read speeds up to 400MB/s, though not at premium specialist levels.
Key benefits
- 128gb capacity: Stores a large collection of documents, photos, videos and everyday files in one compact drive.
- Usb 3.1 gen 1 connectivity: Supports quick transfers on compatible devices while remaining broadly compatible with common USB ports.
- Up to 400mb/s read speed: Helps move and access files faster than many basic USB drives for everyday use.
- Metal body: Provides a more durable feel than many plastic drives and suits frequent daily carrying.
- Integrated keyring loop: Makes it easier to attach to keys, bags or lanyards to reduce the chance of misplacing it.
- Compact 4cm length: Fits neatly into tight USB spaces such as car stereos, media players and crowded desktop setups.
- Light 0.0109kg weight: Adds minimal bulk to a pocket, pencil case or everyday carry bag.
- 5 year manufacturer warranty: Adds longer-term confidence for users who want dependable portable storage.
Q: Will this Samsung USB drive work in a USB 2.0 port?
A: Yes. Samsung BAR Plus uses a USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports. On an older port, transfers run at the speed that port and device support, so you will not get the drive's fastest performance.
Q: Is this flash drive fast enough for large file transfers?
A: Yes, for everyday use. Samsung BAR Plus can reach 400MB/s read speed when connected to a compatible USB 3.1 Gen 1 device, which suits moving photos, videos and backups, but repeated heavy transfers will still be slower than a portable SSD.
Q: Will it work in a car stereo USB slot?
A: Often, yes. Samsung BAR Plus is compact enough for tight USB locations such as some car stereos and media players. Playback still depends on whether the unit supports USB storage and the file formats saved to the drive.
Q: Why is this 128GB USB showing less space?
A: A 128GB drive will usually show less usable space after formatting, and computers may report capacity differently from the packaging figure. If a TV, car stereo or other device only sees part of the drive, its supported file system can also be the limit.
Q: Can the Bar Plus fit beside other laptop ports?
A: Yes, in many cases. Samsung BAR Plus is 4cm long and has a slim one-piece metal body, so it suits tighter USB spaces better than bulky drives. Port clearance still depends on the spacing and shape of the sockets on the device itself.
Q: Does the keyring loop suit everyday carrying and travel?
A: Yes. Samsung BAR Plus has an integrated keyring loop and weighs 10.9g, so it is easy to keep on keys or in a bag. The trade-off is that a very small drive is still easy to leave plugged into a shared PC or TV if you are not careful.
