Pros
Speed (1)
MSI Katana 15 i5 - RTX4050 8GB video card and 16GB memory card.
The gaming laptop is doing well, just played DOTA games, not to bad. Just don't forget to change the HZ in settings from 60HZ to 144HZ to enjoy the speed and resolution while playing games, otherwise you will have small bit of lag and issue while playing. overall very responsive laptop.

Things to consider
Best suited to Full HD gaming; shoppers wanting higher-tier ray tracing, heavier creative workloads or more premium build and display options may prefer a more powerful model.
Aaa gaming suitability score
7.5/10 - Well suited to modern AAA games at Full HD, though it is not aimed at ultra settings or higher-resolution gaming.
Portability rating
6.5/10 - Portable enough for regular travel between home and campus, but it is better treated as a carry-around gaming laptop than an ultra-light machine.
Esports performance score
8.5/10 - The 144Hz display and RTX 4050 make it a strong fit for competitive Full HD esports titles.
Content creation suitability
Suitable for entry to mid-level photo editing, student media projects and light video work, but not ideal for heavier professional creation workflows.
Cooling efficiency vs category
7/10 - Appropriate for a mid-range gaming laptop, with performance suited to sustained gaming workloads but not positioned as a specialist high-end cooling system.
Key benefits
- GeForce RTX 4050 6GB: Delivers dedicated graphics performance for modern games at Full HD settings with smoother gameplay than integrated graphics.

- 15.6-inch Full HD Screen: Provides a practical size for gaming, study and entertainment with clear 1920 x 1080 visuals.
- Intel Core i5-13420H: Supports gaming, schoolwork and everyday multitasking with modern 8-core processing capability.
- 16GB Memory: Helps keep gameplay, browsers, chat apps and everyday programs running more smoothly at the same time.
- 512gb ssd: Gives you fast system responsiveness and practical storage space for games, documents and everyday files.

- HDMI, USB-A and USB-C Ports: Makes it easier to connect monitors, peripherals and accessories without relying on adapters for common setups.
Q: Why is the MSI Katana 15 priced lower than some gaming laptops?
A: MSI Katana 15 is built as a value gaming laptop. It puts the budget into the Intel Core i5-13420H, GeForce RTX 4050 and 16GB RAM, while the trade-offs are a basic 720p webcam, a Full HD LCD panel and shorter unplugged use.
Q: Is 512GB storage enough for games, study and everyday use?
A: Yes. The 512GB SSD suits Windows 11, study files, everyday apps and a practical mix of games, with fast boot and load times. It is not a large games library drive, so bigger installs will fill it faster than on a higher-capacity laptop.
Q: Can this laptop handle modern games at 1080p settings?
A: Yes. MSI Katana 15 is suited to mainstream 1080p gaming with its GeForce RTX 4050 and Intel Core i5-13420H. The trade-off is that demanding titles are better run on sensible settings rather than expecting top-end visual presets across every game.
Q: Will the 144Hz screen work automatically for gaming?
A: No, not always. The panel supports 144Hz, but Windows can still be set lower after setup, so it is worth checking display settings before gaming. In-game frame rate also needs to be high enough, or the smoother refresh will not be fully used.
Q: Does the USB-C port charge the laptop as well?
A: No charging support is listed for the USB-C port. On this model, USB-C is documented as a connection port, so laptop charging should be expected through the included AC adapter instead. That matters if you want a single-cable desk setup.
Q: Can it connect to a monitor and wired internet together?
A: Yes. This laptop has HDMI for an external display and an Ethernet port for wired network access, so both can be used at the same time. That suits a desk setup where lower-latency gaming or more stable downloads matter more than portability.
Q: Is the webcam good enough for uni classes and meetings?
A: Yes, for basic video calls. MSI Katana 15 includes a 720p webcam, which is suitable for classes, meetings and everyday chat. It is functional rather than premium, so do not expect the sharper image quality found on higher-end work-focused laptops.
Q: Is this better for desk use or long sessions away?
A: It is better suited to desk-based use. MSI Katana 15 has a 53.5Whr battery, but gaming laptops with dedicated graphics are generally strongest when plugged in, especially if you want full performance and the 144Hz screen without compromise.
