At a glance
The Asus STRIX G15 is a mid-range 15.6 inch gaming laptop for players, students, and everyday users who want solid Full HD gaming and fast general performance in a portable design. Its Ryzen 7 processor, 144 Hz display, and Wi-Fi 6E are key strengths. The main limitation is the RTX 3050, which is better for esports and medium-to-high settings than demanding AAA gaming at ultra presets.

Things to consider
The RTX 3050 4GB is a capable option for esports and many modern games at Full HD, but it has less graphics headroom than premium gaming laptops with higher-tier GPUs and more video memory.
Aaa gaming suitability score
6.5/10 - Good for many AAA games at Full HD with adjusted settings, but not ideal for ultra settings in more demanding titles.
Portability rating
7.5/10 - Portable for a gaming laptop at 2.1 kg, making it practical for regular transport.
Esports performance score
8.5/10 - Strong fit for competitive Full HD gaming thanks to the 144 Hz display and capable mid-range GPU.
Content creation suitability
Suitable for light to moderate photo editing, video editing, and creative multitasking, but not the best choice for heavier professional workflows.
Cooling efficiency vs category
7/10 - Suitable for mainstream gaming use, though higher-tier gaming laptops usually offer better thermal headroom under sustained heavy loads.
Key benefits
- AMD Ryzen 7 processor: Delivers strong multitasking and gaming performance for everyday use, study, and demanding applications.
- 144 Hz Full HD display: Provides smoother motion and more responsive visuals in fast-paced games.
- 15.6 inch vIPS-level screen: Offers an immersive viewing area with clear detail for gaming, streaming, and general work.
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU: Handles popular competitive games well and supports visually rich Full HD gaming.
- 512gb ssd: Gives you fast system responsiveness and room for essential games, apps, and files.
- Wi-Fi 6E connectivity: Supports faster wireless networking on compatible networks for smoother downloads and online play.
- 2.1 kg chassis: Makes this gaming laptop easier to carry between home, classes, and travel.
- MUX Switch + Optimus: Lets the laptop better balance gaming performance and battery use depending on how you use it.
Q: What does the MUX Switch and Optimus do on this laptop
A: Asus STRIX G15 includes a MUX Switch with Optimus, so you can prioritise graphics performance or battery-saving operation. That helps in games and everyday use, but changing modes may require a restart depending on the setting used.
Q: How well does the RTX 3050 handle modern AAA games
A: Yes, for many titles at 1080p with sensible settings. The Ryzen 7 processor and RTX 3050 Laptop GPU suit esports and plenty of mainstream games, but newer demanding AAA releases are less suited to ultra settings or very high frame rates.
Q: Is the 144Hz screen worthwhile for competitive games and everyday use
A: Yes. The 144Hz Full HD screen can show more frames in fast-paced games than a standard lower-refresh display, which helps motion look smoother. You will get the most benefit in esports titles, not every newer AAA game at high settings.
Q: Will the battery last through a full day off charger
A: Battery life depends heavily on workload. Asus STRIX G15 is rated for up to 12 hours in lighter use, but gaming will drain it much faster, so it suits travel between classes or rooms better than long unplugged gaming sessions.
Q: Can this laptop connect to Ethernet and several wired accessories
A: Yes. Asus STRIX G15 has Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, two USB Type-A ports and two USB-C ports for a wired network, external display and accessories. It has one headphone or headset jack, so separate mic and headphone plugs may need an adaptor.
Q: Are RAM and SSD upgrades available later on this model
A: Upgrade options are not listed for this model, so buy it on the basis of the included 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. That setup suits current study, work and mainstream gaming use, but larger game libraries can fill the internal storage quickly.
