- Sleek, modern design that matches KitchenAid toasters for a stylish kitchen look.
- Multiple temperature settings and alert chimes make it easy and enjoyable to use.
- Quiet and fast to boil, with a beeping sound when the desired temperature is reached.

- Generally seen as good value and quality, with positive experiences at The Good Guys.
Pros
Nice design, quick boil, pleasant sound
We've now had this Kichenaid Kettle for just on a month and we are reasonably pleased with it. It has a slick design, easy to fill, set the temperature and start. It turns off when it has reached the desired temperature - which is why we bought it as our SMEG kettle would boil and boil and boil and boil and boil and boil and boil before finally turning off. SMEG kindly replaced it, but the replacement did the same thing. We also like the chime sound it makes as it reminds us of the chimes you get on an airline when you're on holidays!! (Silly but fun). As other reviewers pointed out, the latch to open the lid jams and did so after about 2 weeks. It means you have to put your fingernail in the gaps to get it to work - which is fine if the kettle is cold. We're still trying to figure a workaround to overcome that - but some people might find that annoying. We do and we are surprised the design hasn't been modified. Otherwise, we are happy. It was also reasonably priced with The Good Guys.

2 Poor Design Features for a Quality Brand
The overall design of this kettle is good and looks modern. However, there are 2 main design flaws on the kettle which makes using it less satisfactory than a lot of other much cheaper brands in the market. 1. The opening and lid are not large enough and trying to fill up the kettle from under the kitchen tap is not so straightforward. 2. The PUSH type power switch on the kettle is not appropriate as trying to press the switch is just pushing the kettle along the kitchen bench and you have to use your other hand to stop the kettle from moving to be able to fully press the switch. I fully recommend the very common light-touch flick on switches as used by most of the other brand kettles.

At a glance
The KitchenAid 1.7 Litre Porcelain White Kettle is a premium family-size kettle designed for households that make several hot drinks at once. Its key strengths are variable temperature control, a durable full metal build, quieter boiling and easy everyday handling. It is especially well suited to tea and coffee drinkers who want more control than a basic kettle. The trade-off is that it is less travel-friendly and more design-focused than compact budget models.

Things to consider
It offers more temperature control and design appeal than basic kettles, but it is less compact and less convenient for travel or very small kitchens than lightweight budget alternatives.
Family size suitability
9/10 - 1.7 L capacity is well suited to family households and multiple back-to-back drinks.
Entertaining suitability
9/10 - large capacity and easy pouring make it convenient when serving several guests.
Ease of use rating
9/10 - 360 degree base, push button lid and simple temperature control make daily use straightforward.
Noise level vs category
8/10 - marketed for quick and quiet boiling, so it should be less noisy than many standard kettles.
Travel friendliness
Low - best suited to benchtop home use rather than travel due to its full-size 1.7 L design.
Key benefits
- 1.7 L capacity: Heats enough water for multiple cups in one go, making it practical for families or when serving guests.
- Variable temperature control 50 to 100°C: Lets you choose a more suitable water temperature for black tea, green tea or coffee.
- Full metal construction: Gives the kettle a sturdy feel and supports long-term everyday use.
- Brushed stainless steel interior: Helps with durability and makes the inside easier to wipe clean.
- 360 degree base: Allows the kettle to be placed back on the base from any angle for easier daily use.
- Push button lid: Simplifies refilling and makes opening the kettle more convenient.
- Heating complete chime: Gives a clear audible alert when the water is ready.
- Removable limescale filter: Helps improve water quality and supports easier maintenance.
Q: Is the 1.7 litre capacity enough for a family or entertaining?
A: Yes. A 1.7 litre kettle typically makes about 6 to 7 standard cups, so it suits households that prepare several hot drinks at once. It is a better fit for family use or guests than a compact 1.0 to 1.2 litre model.
Q: Why does variable temperature control matter on this KitchenAid kettle?
A: Variable temperature control matters because not every drink is best with fully boiling water. It gives more control for black tea, green tea and coffee, where water that is too hot can affect flavour compared with a basic boil-only kettle.
Q: Is this KitchenAid kettle a good choice if kettle noise is a concern?
A: Yes. This model is designed for quick and quiet boiling, so it is aimed at buyers who want less boiling noise than a more basic kettle. It still makes normal kettle sounds, but the focus is on quieter day-to-day use rather than silence.
Q: How does this model compare with a standard fixed-temperature kettle?
A: The main difference is flexibility. A fixed-temperature kettle is fine if every drink is made with boiling water, while this KEK1701 adds variable temperature control for drinks that need gentler heat and a 1.7 litre size for larger batches.
