At a glance
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 is an all-in-one inkjet printer suited to home offices and small teams that need print, scan, copy and fax in one compact unit. Its strengths are automatic duplex printing, wireless mobile printing and a useful 225-sheet tray. A fair limitation is that it is built more for everyday business documents than high-volume office duty or specialist photo printing.

Things to consider
It is a strong everyday document printer, but businesses with heavier print volumes or users wanting more advanced photo output may prefer a higher-end office or photo-focused model.
Home office suitability score
9/10 - strong feature set for home-based work, with duplex printing, fax, scanning and easy wireless use.
Photo printing quality
Good for casual colour images and charts, but better suited to business documents than specialist photo printing.
Ease of use rating
8/10 - touchscreen controls, wireless printing support and all-in-one functions make daily use straightforward.
Running cost guidance
Best suited to regular everyday printing; Instant Ink compatibility may help predictable ongoing ink costs for eligible users.
Family friendliness
Good - useful for homework, forms, colour handouts and general household scanning or copying.
Key benefits
- All-in-One Functionality: Print, scan, copy and fax from one device to simplify everyday document work.
- Automatic Duplex Printing: Prints on both sides of the page automatically to reduce paper use and manual page flipping.
- 225-Sheet Paper Tray: Holds a useful amount of paper so you spend less time topping up during regular office use.
- 20 ppm Black Print Speed: Delivers everyday black document printing fast enough for routine business tasks.
- 10 ppm Colour Print Speed: Handles colour documents at a practical pace for reports, forms and presentations.
- Wireless and Mobile Printing: Supports Wi-Fi, Apple AirPrint, Chrome OS and Mopria for convenient printing from compatible devices.
- Automatic Document Feeder: Makes it easier to work through multi-page scanning, copying or faxing jobs.
- Touchscreen Control Panel: Provides straightforward on-printer control for common tasks and setup.
Q: Does it have an automatic document feeder for multi-page scanning?
A: Yes. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 includes an automatic document feeder, so it can handle stacks of loose pages more conveniently than lifting the scanner lid for every sheet. Bound items and thicker originals are still better suited to the flatbed.
Q: Can you connect this printer by Ethernet or USB instead of Wi-Fi?
A: Yes. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 supports Ethernet, USB and Wi-Fi, so it can suit a fixed desk setup as well as a wireless one. A wired connection is often the simpler choice if the printer will stay beside one computer or on an office network.
Q: Does the HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 support faxing with a phone line?
A: Yes. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 has 2 RJ-11 fax or modem phone line ports for fax use. It needs a compatible phone line connection for faxing, so internet-only calling services may not behave the same way as a standard line.
Q: Will it print from iPhone, iPad, Android and Chromebook devices?
A: Yes. This printer supports Apple AirPrint, Mopria and Chrome OS printing, so it can work with many common phones, tablets and Chromebooks. The exact print options can still vary by app and device, especially for layout and advanced settings.
Q: Can you use non-HP ink cartridges in this printer?
A: Not reliably. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 is a dynamic security enabled printer, so cartridges using non-HP chips or modified electronic circuitry may be blocked. It is the safer choice for buyers who plan to stick with supported HP cartridge options.
Q: How much desk space should I allow for this printer?
A: The HP OfficeJet Pro 8130 measures 337.5 mm high, 233 mm wide and 460 mm deep. That suits many home office desks, but it still needs extra room around it for paper handling, cable connections and comfortable access to the control panel.
