At a glance
The DeLonghi 2400W SlimStyle Panel Heater is a versatile electric heater for bedrooms, living areas and home offices needing quick, controllable warmth. It stands out for its slim design, wall-mount or freestanding setup, double fan-assisted heat circulation and easy electronic timer controls. It suits buyers wanting flexible placement and faster warm-up than basic panel heaters. The trade-off is that the fan-assisted design is not as quiet as fully silent convection-only models.
What it’s great for
- Everyday Home Heating
- Quick Room Warm-Ups
- Flexible Wall or Floor Placement
- Scheduled Heating
Where it works best
- Bedroom
- Living Room
- Home Office
- Apartment
- Study
Who it’s for
- Remote Worker
- Apartment Dweller
- Family Household
- Everyday Home User
- Renters and Homeowners
Things to consider
Compared with premium silent panel or hydronic heaters, this model’s fan-assisted heating may produce more operating noise and it does not offer the same premium heat retention.
Small room suitability
Very good for small rooms, with enough output to also handle medium-sized spaces
Energy efficiency score
6/10 - electronic temperature control and three power levels can help avoid unnecessary full-power use, but it remains a standard resistive electric heater.
Noise level vs category average
5/10 - slightly louder than silent convection panel heaters because the double fan assists air circulation.
Safety features score
8/10 - includes tip-over auto off, safety thermostat and key lock for stronger everyday protection.
Portability rating
7/10 - lightweight and easy to move between rooms, though freestanding panel heaters are less compact than small portable fan heaters.
Key benefits
- 2400W Heating Output: delivers strong heating performance for rooms up to 70 m3.
- Three Heat Settings: lets you choose lower or higher output to better match room conditions.
- Double Fan Hi-Fi System: circulates warm air faster than basic panel heaters for quicker comfort.
- Electronic Temperature Control: helps you set and maintain a more precise comfort level.
- 24-Hour Timer: allows heating to start or stop around your daily schedule.
- Wall-Mount or Freestanding Design: gives you flexible placement in rooms where floor space is limited.
- Tip-Over Auto Off: adds peace of mind by switching the heater off if it is knocked over.
- Key Lock: helps prevent accidental setting changes in busy households.
Q: Is this heater suitable for an open plan living area?
A: It can work in an open plan area if the space is reasonably enclosed and within its 70m3 room coverage. In very drafty rooms or homes with high ceilings, warm-up can feel slower and heat may not stay as even near the edges.
Q: Will the DeLonghi HCX9124E be quiet enough for a bedroom?
A: Yes, for many bedrooms. The DeLonghi HCX9124E uses fan-assisted heating, so it is not completely silent, and some operating noise is normal, especially on higher settings, but it is generally less intrusive than a small fan heater blasting constantly.
Q: Can it replace ducted heating for everyday whole-home use?
A: No. This heater is designed to warm a single room, with coverage for spaces up to 70m3, so it suits targeted heating better than whole-home use. It is a practical option when only one bedroom, study or living area needs heat.
Q: Does it need to be wall mounted to work properly?
A: No. The DeLonghi HCX9124E can be used freestanding or wall mounted, so performance does not depend on fixing it to the wall. Wall mounting helps save floor space, while freestanding use suits renters or anyone moving it between rooms.
Q: Why does this panel heater switch itself off sometimes?
A: This heater can switch off because it has a safety thermostat and a tip-over auto-off function. That means shut-down can happen if airflow is restricted, the heater is knocked out of position, or the set temperature has already been reached.
Q: Can the timer schedule heating overnight or before waking up?
A: Yes. The DeLonghi HCX9124E has a 24-hour timer, so it can be set to start or stop within the day rather than being left on continuously. It suits overnight use with a planned shut-off, but it is not a smart app-controlled scheduler.
