At a glance
The Canon CLI681XXL Cyan Ink Cartridge is a genuine extra high yield cyan cartridge for selected Canon PIXMA printers. It suits households and small offices wanting reliable colour output for documents and photos, with the convenience of replacing only the cyan tank. Its key strengths are strong compatibility and solid page yield, but it is limited to one colour and only works with specific Canon models.

Things to consider
This cartridge only replaces cyan, so users with heavy multi-colour printing will still need the other individual tanks and it is not suitable for printers outside the listed Canon range.
Printer compatibility assessment
8/10 - Strong fit for a defined group of Canon PIXMA models, but not cross-brand or broad universal compatibility.
Page yield value score
8/10 - Extra high yield format with up to 830 pages claimed and 760 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 gives solid value for regular cyan printing.
Ease of replacement rating
9/10 - Single-colour tank design and easy-fit cartridge format make replacement straightforward.
Business vs home suitability
Best for home users and small offices needing reliable colour printing; suitable for business use where compatible Canon photo-capable inkjet printers are already in place.
Key benefits
- Extra High Yield: Supports up to 830 pages claimed, helping reduce how often the cyan cartridge needs replacing.
- ISO Rated Output: Rated to 760 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions for a more standardised yield reference.
- Single Cyan Cartridge: Lets you replace only the cyan ink you need instead of changing a combined colour cartridge.
- Vibrant Cyan Colour: Produces bright cyan tones suited to colour documents and photo printing.
- Genuine Canon Consumable: Designed to work with supported Canon printers for dependable fit and operation.
- Simple Installation: Fits easily into compatible printers for quick cartridge changes.
- Home and Office Ready: Suitable for both household printing needs and regular office colour output.
- Targeted Compatibility: Works with supported models including TS6160, TS8160, TS9160, TR7560 and TR8560 series printers.
Q: What does XXL mean on the Canon CLI681XXL Cyan cartridge?
A: XXL means extra high yield. It is the higher-capacity version of Canon's CLI-681 cyan cartridge, so it is designed to print more pages before replacement. This cyan cartridge is rated to 760 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions.
Q: Is the Canon CLI681XXL Cyan compatible with printers that use CLI-681 cartridges?
A: Yes, if the printer specifically lists CLI-681 cyan as a supported cartridge. The XXL version is the higher-yield option within the same cartridge family, but it will not suit printers that use a different Canon cartridge series altogether.
Q: How many pages does the Canon CLI681XXL Cyan cartridge print?
A: The Canon CLI681XXL Cyan is rated to 760 pages using the ISO/IEC 24711 standard. Actual yield can be lower if prints use heavy colour coverage, frequent cleaning cycles, or a lot of photo printing rather than lighter everyday documents.
Q: Can the cyan cartridge be replaced on its own, or do all colours need changing together?
A: Yes, this is a single cyan ink cartridge, so cyan can be replaced on its own when it runs low. That can help reduce ink waste compared with combined cartridges, although the printer may still show separate alerts for any other colours nearing empty.
