At a glance
The Canon CLI681XXL Yellow Ink Cartridge is a high-yield replacement cartridge for selected Canon PIXMA printers, designed for users who print colour documents and photos regularly. Its main strengths are reliable compatibility, strong yellow output, and an estimated yield of up to 830 pages. It suits home and office printing well, but it only replaces the yellow channel, so it is not a complete multi-colour solution.

Things to consider

Printer compatibility assessment
Best for users with compatible Canon PIXMA TS6160, TS8160, TS9160, TR7560, and TR8560 printers.
Page yield value score
8/10 - up to 830 pages is a strong yield for regular colour printing in home and small office settings.
Ease of replacement rating
9/10 - single-colour replacement and lightweight design make installation straightforward for most users.
Business vs home suitability
Well suited to both home and small office use, especially where colour printing is frequent but not high-volume commercial production.
Key benefits
- High-Yield Output: Prints up to 830 pages, helping reduce how often the yellow cartridge needs replacing.
- Yellow Ink Replacement: Restores the yellow channel for colour documents, images, and schoolwork.
- Canon PIXMA Compatibility: Designed to fit selected Canon TS and TR series printers for straightforward matching.
- Consistent Colour Printing: Suits regular use where dependable yellow output is needed across everyday print jobs.
- Photo-Friendly Use: A practical option for users printing photos that need clear and vibrant yellow tones.
- Home and Office Suitability: Works well for both household and light office printing needs.
- Compact Cartridge Box: Packaged in a compact 9.7 cm x 2.1 cm x 11.0 cm box for easy storage before installation.

Q: Which Canon PIXMA printers fit this CLI-681XXL yellow cartridge?
A: This cartridge is listed for Canon PIXMA TS6160, TS8160, TS9160, TR7560 and TR8560 series models, including listed colour variants. Match the full printer model before buying, because CLI-681 cartridges are not universal across all PIXMA printers.
Q: Does this cartridge replace all colours or just the yellow ink?
A: It replaces the yellow channel only. If your printer also needs black, cyan, magenta or photo blue, those cartridges are separate, so this is the right buy only when yellow is the colour your printer is reporting as empty or low.
Q: Can CLI-681XXLY be used with a PGI-680 black cartridge?
A: Yes. Canon printers in this range commonly use a CLI colour cartridge alongside a PGI black cartridge, so buying yellow on its own can be normal. It still needs to match a listed compatible printer model, not just the cartridge family.
Q: Is the XXL size worth buying for regular colour printing?
A: Yes, for regular colour printing. The XXL format is designed for fewer cartridge changes than a standard-capacity yellow cartridge, but the higher upfront spend makes less sense if you print only occasionally or mostly in black and white.
Q: Is this a genuine Canon cartridge or a generic replacement?
A: This is a genuine Canon ink cartridge, made for compatible Canon PIXMA printers rather than a third-party refill or clone. That matters if you want the cartridge type the printer is designed to recognise and install directly.
