At a glance
This 709 mL Bissell cleaning formula is a practical choice for households wanting fragrance-free carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning with allergy-focused benefits. It suits families and pet owners using a compatible upright carpet washer, with biodegradable detergents and child- and pet-safe use when directed. Its main limitation is that it is designed for full size upright carpet washer machines rather than broad multi-machine compatibility.

Odour removal score
6/10 - fragrance-free formula leaves no added scent, but it is not specifically described as a dedicated odour-neutralising treatment
Key benefits
- Fragrance-Free Formula: Cleans carpets, rugs and upholstery without adding scent, making it a good match for fragrance-sensitive households.
- Allergy-Focused Cleaning: Designed to help remove dust mite waste and pollen from soft surfaces for more targeted whole-home cleaning.
- Multi-Surface Use: Suitable for carpets, rugs and upholstery, so one formula can support several common fabric-cleaning jobs around the home.
- Pet and Child Safe When Directed: Safe for use around pets and children when used as directed, which suits busy family homes.
- Biodegradable Detergents: Uses biodegradable detergents for a more considered cleaning option.
- No Heavy Metals, Phosphates or Dyes: Avoids several unwanted additives for a simpler formula profile.
- 709 mL Bottle Size: The 709 mL bottle supports several cleaning sessions depending on your machine tank size and dilution instructions.
- Compatible with Full Size Upright Carpet Washer Machines: Made for full size upright carpet washer machines for straightforward use with compatible Bissell-style cleaning routines.
Q: Will this formula work in a Bissell CrossWave or spot cleaner
A: No. This formula is listed for full size upright carpet washer machines only. It is not listed for CrossWave or spot cleaner use, so it is best bought only if your machine is a full size upright carpet washer.
Q: Can I use this cleaner without a carpet washer machine
A: No. This cleaner is designed to be diluted and used in a full size upright carpet washer on carpets, rugs and upholstery. It is not described as a ready to use spray or hand-applied spot cleaner for direct use from the bottle.
Q: How much Bissell formula should I add to each clean
A: Use the fill and dilution directions on the bottle and your machine's tank markings. Full size upright carpet washers do not all use the same mix, and adding extra formula will not improve cleaning and can leave more residue behind.
Q: Will it remove old pet stains and deep odours
A: Yes, for everyday mess. Bissell Multi Alergen Cleaning Formula can lift fresh spills, routine dirt and common pet mess in a compatible machine, but old set-in stains and deep odours may need repeated cleaning or a specialist stain formula.
Q: Does it leave a fragrance after cleaning carpets or upholstery
A: No. Bissell Multi Alergen Cleaning Formula is fragrance free, so it does not add a perfumed scent after cleaning. It can freshen routine messes, but it is not a specialist deodoriser for deep or persistent odours in carpet fibres.
Q: What ingredients are left out of this carpet cleaning formula
A: This formula contains no heavy metals, phosphates or dyes, and it uses biodegradable detergents. That makes it a practical option for buyers avoiding added fragrance or coloured formulas, but it is still intended for machine use as directed.
