It suits routers, PCs, consoles and smart TVs, with a snagless boot that helps during installation. Compatibility with major brands
Broad compatibility with Ethernet-enabled devices from major brands including common routers, modems, PCs, gaming consoles, switches and smart TVs that use RJ45 ports.
Ease of setup score
10/10 - plug-and-play RJ45 cable with no software, drivers or configuration required.
Home office suitability
9/10 - ideal for reliable desk-to-router or dock-to-switch connections where stable wired networking matters.
Upgrade flexibility
8/10 - easy drop-in upgrade from older Cat5 or Cat5e patch leads for everyday wired network improvements.
Durability vs category average
8/10 - snagless boot and PVC jacket give it better everyday protection than many basic patch cables.
Key benefits
- 5 m cable length: Gives you extra reach for connecting devices that are not right beside your router, modem or switch.
- Snagless moulded boot: Helps protect the RJ45 clip from catching or breaking when pulling the cable around desks or entertainment units.
- Cat 6 standard: Supports stable wired networking for everyday internet use, file transfers and streaming.
- Tested beyond 500 mhz: Provides headroom for consistent signal performance in normal home and office networking tasks.
- Rj45 male connectors: Works with common Ethernet ports found on routers, modems, PCs, consoles and smart TVs.
- Round pvc jacket: Adds everyday cable protection and flexibility for routine installation around workspaces and media units.
- 24 awg stranded copper conductors: Helps maintain a dependable connection for regular wired networking use.
Q: Will a 5 metre Ethernet cable slow down my connection?
A: No. A 5 metre run is short for Ethernet, and this Belkin cable is built for stable wired networking at Gigabit speeds when the connected devices and network hardware also support that rate. It will not make a slower internet plan faster.
Q: Does this Belkin cable work with older routers and switches?
A: Yes. The RJ45 plugs suit Ethernet-enabled devices that use a standard network port, so it can connect older routers, switches, PCs or consoles if they have RJ45 Ethernet sockets. It is a data cable, not a phone cable.
Q: Is Cat6 worth buying for everyday home internet and streaming?
A: Yes. Belkin CAT6 Snagless Ethernet Cable - 5M suits everyday home networking, streaming and gaming where a stable wired link matters. It supports Gigabit Ethernet, but it will not add speed beyond the limits of your modem, router or internet plan.
Q: Can the snagless boot help when routing behind furniture?
A: Yes. The snagless moulded boot is designed to stop the RJ45 clip catching as the cable is pulled behind desks or entertainment units. That helps protect the clip from bending or snapping, but the cable still needs normal care around tight bends.
Q: Is this cable suitable for smart TVs and gaming consoles?
A: Yes. This Belkin cable can link a smart TV or gaming console to a modem, router or switch through a standard RJ45 Ethernet port. It is for wired networking only, so it does not add Wi-Fi to a device that has no Ethernet socket.
Q: What does UTP mean for this cable in a home office?
A: UTP means unshielded twisted pair. This suits normal home and office runs between network devices, but it is not the best choice for areas with heavy electrical interference, so avoid running it tightly alongside mains power where possible.
