Pros
Sunbeam Food Lab DT6000
Works perfectly! The only thing I don’t like is that the base isn’t lined and it has plastic walls/channels in it, so when your bits fall in there if you’re dehydrating things like dill or rosemary, they are really hard to clean up and get stuck in all the corners of the walls/channels. The fruit leather tray that doubles as a drip tray isn’t a snug enough fit to stop this from happening. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. The other thing to note is that the times in the instruction manual are very understated- everything I have done has taken much much longer. It works brilliantly though. I’m very happy with my dehydrated dill, rosemary, parsley, tomatoes, cucumber, and celery leaves, and looking forward to doing much more 😊

Sunbeam Food Lab Electronic Dehydrator DT6000
It works brilliantly. I love the stainless steel trays. Sunbeam should, however, fix up the interior base. It’s not lined, and it’s got plastic channels in the base , so when you dry herbs (like dill, rosemary) it’s really hard to wipe out because of the channels in the way and stuff gets stuck in all the corners. And the fruit leather tray that doubles as a ‘drip’ tray at the bottom, doesn’t catch it all bc it’s not a snug fit. And the times in the recipe book are very understated. Everything takes much much longer. Would have given it 5 star if it wasn’t for the poor finish of the base. This does not affect its functionality though and it works very well. I have successfully dehydrated parsley, dill, rosemary, tomatoes, cucumber and celery leaves.

With a large dog, I was tired of paying for treats continually. This dryer makes it easy to make own chicken jerky in large batches. Dog loves it and I like the savings

Sunbeam Dehydrator
The Sunbeam Food Lab Electronic Dehydrator is easy to use and works well for making dried fruit, jerky and healthy snacks at home. The adjustable temperature settings are simple, and the multiple trays provide plenty of space. It does take a while to dehydrate some foods, but overall it’s a reliable and practical appliance that delivers good results.

Q: Will I need to rotate trays while food is drying
A: No. Sunbeam DT6000 uses horizontal airflow to keep temperature more consistent across all six trays, so shelf rotation is not normally needed. That makes longer batches easier to manage, but drying time still varies with food thickness and moisture.
Q: Can it dry small herbs or berries without slipping through
A: Yes. A fine food mesh tray is included for smaller pieces that could drop through a standard tray. It is useful for herbs, berries and other small items, but very wet mixtures still need careful loading to avoid drips.
Q: How much power does the Sunbeam DT6000 use while running
A: Sunbeam DT6000 draws 500W while operating, which is moderate for a home dehydrator with six trays. Running cost depends more on how long the cycle runs, since wetter foods and thicker cuts usually need longer drying times.
Q: Can this dehydrator fit thicker fruit slices or jerky strips
A: Yes. The six trays have adjustable shelf height, so the Sunbeam DT6000 can take thicker slices and bulkier pieces than a fixed-height layout. It still works best when pieces are cut evenly so air can move around each tray.
Q: Does the timer switch it off automatically when drying ends
A: Yes. The electronic timer can be set from 30 minutes to 19.5 hours in 30-minute steps, and the unit switches off at the end of the countdown. That suits set-time drying, but it does not sense moisture or stop early on its own.
Q: Is 70 degrees enough for making jerky in this model
A: Yes. Sunbeam DT6000 has eight temperature settings from 35°C to 70°C, covering the higher heat used in many jerky recipes. It does not automate meat preparation or food-safety steps, so recipe handling and drying time still matter.
