Key benefits
- Industry-Leading Noise Cancellation: Dual processors and eight microphones help reduce surrounding noise for more focused listening in busy environments.
- 30-Hour Battery Life: Up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge supports long workdays, flights and commutes with fewer recharges.
- Lightweight 250 g Design: The lighter build helps reduce head fatigue during extended listening sessions.
- Soft Fit Leather Earpads: The cushioned finish improves long-session comfort and creates a gentler seal around the ears.
- Precise Voice Pickup: Built-in beamforming microphones and AI-based noise reduction help make calls sound clearer in everyday environments.
- Speak-to-Chat: Audio pauses automatically when you start talking, making quick conversations easier without removing the headphones.
- Adaptive Sound Control: The headphones adjust listening settings based on your activity and surroundings for a more seamless day-to-day experience.
- Included Carrying Case: The supplied case makes the headphones easier to store and pack for travel.
Q: How long is the Sony WH-1000XM5 warranty in Australia?
A: Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones include a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. That covers the supplied product rather than accidental damage or wear from normal use, so it is best treated as warranty support, not damage cover.
Q: Are these headphones better for travel or audiophile listening?
A: Sony WH-1000XM5 is better suited to premium everyday listening, travel and work than specialist audiophile use. The focus is strong noise cancelling, comfort and call features, rather than a more analytical or deeply tweakable sound.
Q: Can the WH-1000XM5 handle calls clearly in noisy places?
A: Yes. Sony WH-1000XM5 uses built-in microphones with Precise Voice Pickup, beamforming mics and AI-based noise reduction to improve call clarity. It suits offices, commuting and general outdoor use, but it will not remove every background sound.
Q: What does Speak-to-Chat actually do on these headphones?
A: Speak-to-Chat pauses your audio when you start talking and lets in ambient sound for a quick conversation. It is useful when you do not want to remove the headphones, but it is designed for short interruptions rather than full-time awareness.
Q: How does Sony WH-1000XM5 adjust noise cancelling automatically?
A: Sony WH-1000XM5 uses Adaptive Sound Control and Auto NC Optimiser to adjust noise cancelling to your environment and wearing conditions. That means the effect can change between places like an office, train or aircraft cabin.
Q: Do these headphones suit long flights and full workdays?
A: Yes. Sony WH-1000XM5 offers up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge, which suits long flights and extended work sessions. The lightweight 250g design also makes them easier to pack and wear for longer stretches.
