Looks nice but that's all
I bought this Smeg coffee machine because it looked gorgeous and I assumed that something so expensive must work pretty well. That was my mistake. It took a LOT of trial and error to finally make a mediocre cup of coffee. On top of that, the 4 cup function does not work, it will use all the water in the reservoir. If you've only put 4 cups of ground coffee in, then you will have 10 cups of a very weak brew. The warming plate does not work with the 4-cup function so this can only be brewed when you are ready to drink it. Also, none of the measurements match up - e.g. 4 cups of water does not equal 4 cups of coffee. Plus, the coffee is not very hot. All in all, a bit of a disappointment that I would not recommend. Looks stunning on the bench though and does make an average cuppa warm joe that some people might like.
