Work vs gaming suitability
Best suited to work and study rather than gaming
Ergonomics score
7/10 - comfortable for portable typing and pen use, but focused more on mobility than advanced ergonomic adjustability
Multi-device compatibility
Single-device focused - designed for Surface Pro 12-inch (1st Edition) only
Portability rating
9/10 - slim, magnetic and only 0.294 kg, making it easy to carry daily
Noise level vs category
Likely quiet in typical typing use compared with many desktop keyboards

- Slate finish: Matches compatible Surface devices for a clean, cohesive look.
- Portable work setup: Helps turn the tablet into a more practical mobile productivity device for desk work and travel.
- 2-year manufacturer's warranty: Adds longer-term support for buyers wanting extra peace of mind.
Q: Is this keyboard compatible with older Surface Pro models or only the 12-inch Surface Pro?
A: No. This keyboard is designed for the Surface Pro 12-inch, 1st Edition. The fit and connector are model-specific, so it is not the right choice for older Surface Pro generations, 13-inch Surface Pro models, or Surface Go tablets.
Q: Does this version include the Microsoft Slim Pen, or is the pen sold separately?
A: Yes. This is the keyboard with Slim Pen version, so the pen is included rather than sold as a keyboard-only accessory. That matters if you want handwriting or sketching straight away and do not want to add a separate pen later.
Q: Can this keyboard be used when it is detached from the Surface Pro 12-inch?
A: No. Surface Pro keyboards in this style connect directly to the tablet, rather than working as a separate Bluetooth keyboard. It is built for an integrated laptop-style setup on the 12-inch Surface Pro, not for typing across multiple devices.
Q: Why choose this keyboard instead of a regular Bluetooth keyboard for a Surface Pro 12-inch?
A: Because it is made to pair physically with the 12-inch Surface Pro, giving a neater laptop-style setup for travel and desk work. A regular Bluetooth keyboard can work with more devices, but it does not attach to the tablet in the same integrated way.
