What customers say, summarised by AI
- Noticeable upgrade from standard keyboards, offering real keys and better build.
- Great tactile response, ideal for both gaming and fast typing sessions.
- Lighting and shortcuts are customisable via G Hub software.
- Moderate noise level; can be distracting for others in close environments.
- Paint on keycaps wears off quickly, which can diminish appearance.
- Solid weight and practical size contribute to a sturdy, quality feel.
Great Gaming keyboard.
Definitely an improvement over my supplied keyboard and so nice to have real keys instead of the cheaper options. Once unpaired with a better Logitech gaming mouse the experience was way more fun and even my accuracy improved.

Excellent product
Love the Logitech tactile keyboard, its the second one I have bought after I managed to kill the first (after a few years of use). I touch type very fast when working so the sound can be distracting for others if your in a confined space, but for gaming and working alone its a great keyboard

Great little unit!
Happy with this keyboard, not too clicky not too loud. Has a nice weight to it, and feels solid. I like how you can customised the lighting and shortcuts via G Hub

At a glance
The Logitech G512 Carbon RGB Tactile Gaming Keyboard is a full-size mechanical keyboard built for responsive gaming and everyday typing. It suits players and users who want tactile key feedback, durable aluminium construction, RGB customisation and a number pad. Its fast 1 ms response time helps with quick inputs, while the USB pass-through adds convenience. The main limitation is that its full-size layout is less compact for smaller desks or portable setups.

Things to consider
Its full-size design with number pad takes up more desk space than compact or tenkeyless gaming keyboards, so it is less ideal if you want a smaller footprint.
Work vs gaming suitability
Balanced, with a stronger lean toward gaming thanks to its 1 ms response time and RGB lighting, while the full-size layout also supports productivity tasks.
Ergonomics score
7/10 - full-size layout and solid build suit desk use well, but it is not a compact or travel-friendly keyboard.
Multi-device compatibility
Single-device wired USB use; best suited to a desktop or laptop with a USB port.
Portability rating
4/10 - at 1.13 kg and with a full-size footprint, it is better for a permanent desk setup than carrying around.
Noise level vs category
Moderate - tactile mechanical switches are typically more noticeable than many membrane keyboards.
Key benefits
- Mechanical switches: Delivers precise, tactile key presses that feel responsive for gaming and typing.
- 1 ms response time: Helps register inputs quickly for fast-paced gameplay.
- Full-size layout with number pad: Makes data entry, shortcuts and everyday desktop tasks more convenient.
- Aluminium alloy top case: Adds rigidity and a more solid feel for long-term desk use.
- Per-key RGB lighting: Lets you personalise the keyboard look and highlight important keys.
- USB 2.0 connection: Provides a straightforward wired connection for stable desktop use.
- USB pass-through port: Gives you an easier access point for plugging in a compatible accessory.
- Tactile switch feel: Offers noticeable feedback on each press, which many users find satisfying for both work and play.
Q: What do the GX Brown tactile switches feel like on the Logitech G512 Carbon?
A: GX Brown switches have a noticeable tactile bump when a key actuates, so each press feels more defined than a linear switch. They are typically quieter than clicky blue-style switches, which suits gaming and everyday typing in shared spaces.
Q: Does the Logitech G512 Carbon support RGB customisation software?
A: Yes. The G512 Carbon works with Logitech G HUB for per-key RGB lighting effects, game profiles and macro-style key assignments on supported keys. Software control is useful if you want different lighting or commands for different games.
Q: Does the Logitech G512 Carbon have a USB pass-through port, and what is it useful for?
A: Yes. This model includes a USB pass-through port that can be handy for connecting a mouse, headset dongle or charging cable within easier reach. It is a convenience feature, not a replacement for the main USB connection needed to run the keyboard.
Q: Is the Logitech G512 Carbon a good choice if you want a sturdier keyboard frame?
A: Yes. The G512 Carbon uses an aluminium alloy top case, which gives it a firmer feel than many all-plastic gaming keyboards. That can help reduce flex on the desk and gives the keyboard a more solid, premium build during heavy use.
Q: Is the Logitech G512 Carbon a full-size keyboard, and does it include a number pad?
A: Yes. The G512 Carbon is a full-size layout, so it includes a dedicated number pad as well as the main function row. That makes it easier to use for both gaming and general tasks like spreadsheets, shortcuts and data entry.
Q: Does the Logitech G512 Carbon include a wrist rest?
A: No. The G512 Carbon is typically sold as the keyboard only, without an included wrist rest. If wrist support matters for longer typing sessions, factor in the extra desk space and the possible need to add a separate wrist rest.
