At a glance
The Insta360 Luna Ultra Standard Bundle is a premium action camera for creators who want high-end video, flexible wide and tele framing, and easier solo shooting. Its standout strengths are strong image quality, stabilisation, AI tracking and a detachable touchscreen with remote control. It suits travel, outdoor and content creation workflows well, but waterproofing is not specified, so it is less ideal for water-heavy use without extra protection.

Things to consider
It offers impressive versatility and image quality, but specialist water-sport or rugged adventure users may prefer an option with clearly stated waterproofing and a more established ultra-rugged design.
Outdoor adventure suitability
High - well suited to travel, hiking and general outdoor filming thanks to stabilisation, AI tracking and flexible remote shooting.
Video quality score
9.4/10 - standout capture quality with 8K30 Dolby Vision, 4K120 slow motion and versatile lens options.
Waterproof performance
Not specified - suitable for general outdoor use, but water-based activities may require extra protection.
Beginner vs pro fit
Best for intermediate to advanced creators, though motivated beginners can still benefit from its remote shooting and AI assistance.

7.2/10 - designed for extended shoots with onboard and expandable storage, but battery runtime is not specified.
Key benefits
- 8K Dolby Vision Video: Captures highly detailed footage with richer contrast and colour for cinematic travel and action scenes.
- 4K120 Slow Motion: Lets you slow down fast action smoothly for more dramatic sports and movement shots.
- Leica Summicron Main Lens: Delivers strong image quality and appealing clarity for everyday shooting and scenic content.
- Dedicated Telephoto Lens: Makes it easier to frame distant subjects without needing a second camera body.
- Detachable 2 inch OLED Touchscreen: Supports remote operation up to 20 m for easier self-shooting and more flexible camera placement.
- Built-in Wireless Microphone with Wind Guard: Helps capture clearer spoken audio outdoors without carrying separate audio gear.
- Up to 12x Zoom: Gives you more framing flexibility for both wide scenes and tighter close-ups in one device.
- 3-Axis Stabilization and AI Tracking: Helps keep footage steadier and subjects better centred during movement.
Q: Does the Insta360 Luna Ultra use both a wide camera and a telephoto camera?
A: Yes. Luna Ultra combines a Leica Summicron 1-inch 8K main camera with a separate 1/1.3-inch telephoto lens. That gives wider framing and tighter close-ups in one body, without needing a second camera.
Q: How far can the detachable touchscreen operate from the Insta360 Luna Ultra camera?
A: The detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen supports HD transmission at distances up to 20 metres when the wireless connection is stable. That suits solo filming and remote framing, but walls, crowds and interference can reduce range.
Q: Can the Insta360 Luna Ultra Standard Bundle record spoken audio without a separate microphone?
A: Yes. The detachable monitor includes a built-in wireless microphone for dialogue when filming away from the camera. This bundle also includes a Wind Guard, though a dedicated external mic is still the better choice for noisier locations.
Q: Is the Luna Ultra telephoto lens mainly for digital zoom or for clearer close-up shots?
A: It is designed for clearer close-ups, not just a basic crop. Luna Ultra adds a dedicated telephoto lens with 6x lossless zoom, while the broader 12x zoom range will rely more on digital enlargement as you zoom further in.
Q: What is included in the Insta360 Luna Ultra Standard Bundle?
A: The Standard Bundle includes the Luna Ultra camera, Protective Cover, Wind Guard, 1/4-inch Thread Handle and Wrist Strap. It does not include add-ons such as a battery handle, wide-angle lens or external mic transmitter.
Q: Is the Insta360 Luna Ultra suitable for shooting vertical video straight from the camera?
A: Yes. It supports 4K60fps portrait video and 4K Live Frame photos, so vertical content can be captured in-camera instead of cropped later. That is useful for social posting where reframing a landscape clip can reduce detail.
