Excellent value for money
very efficient and does a great cleaning job. sometimes with larger loads though it does not spin clothes dry and i have to remove half the load an spin them separately, this is highly annoying. Even though it says it does up to 12kg it doesnt seem to cope well with the larger loads.

At a glance
The Hisense 12kg Series 5I Front Load Washer is a large-capacity washer designed for families and households washing bulky items like bedding and towels. Its strengths are the roomy drum, 1500rpm spin speed, steam refresh, smart app control and strong 5 star energy rating. A key limitation is that the door is fixed left-hinged, so it may be less flexible to place than some alternatives.
What it’s great for
- Family Laundry
- Bulky Bedding Loads
- Towels and Linen
- Mixed Fabric Everyday Washing
- Smart Home Laundry Control
Where it works best
- Family Home
- Busy Laundry Room
- Apartment Laundry with Standard Width Space
- Smart-Enabled Home
Who it’s for
- Large Household
- Family with Children
- Busy Home Manager
- Smart Home User
Things to consider
The fixed left-hinged door and 595mm depth may limit placement flexibility, and premium models may offer quieter operation or more advanced fabric-care automation.
Fabric care suitability score
8/10 - Good range of specialist programs plus steam refresh make it well suited to mixed fabrics and regular garment care.
Water efficiency rating
4.5 Star WELS
Family laundry fit
Excellent for large families and households washing frequent full loads, towels and bedding.
Noise level vs category average
6/10 - No specific low-noise claim is provided, so it is best treated as typical for a large-capacity front loader.
Allergy suitability
7/10 - Hygiene Guard+ and steam refresh support more hygiene-focused washing, though it is not presented as a specialist allergy model.
Key benefits
- 12kg Capacity: Handles large family loads and bulky items like bedding and towels with fewer wash cycles.
- 1500rpm Spin Speed: Extracts more water at the end of the cycle to help reduce drying time.
- 14 Wash Programs: Gives you useful cycle choices for delicates, sportswear, bedding and quick washes.
- Steam Refresh: Helps reduce creases and freshen lightly worn garments without a full heavy wash.
- Hygiene Guard+: Supports hygiene-focused washing for loads that need extra care.
- ConnectLife Wi-Fi Control: Lets you monitor and control the washer remotely through the app.
- 5 Star Energy Rating: Delivers strong energy performance with estimated annual energy use of 295kWh.
- 4.5 Star WELS Water Rating: Uses 103L per wash cycle, supporting better water performance for a washer of this size.
Q: Is the 12kg capacity a good fit for a large household?
A: Yes. A 12kg drum suits larger households and bulky loads such as towels or bedding that can overwhelm smaller washers. It gives more room than many 8kg to 10kg models, but small daily loads may not need this much capacity.
Q: Will this Hisense washer fit into a standard laundry cavity?
A: It measures 845mm high, 595mm wide and 640mm deep, so the width is standard but the depth needs careful checking. Allow extra room for hoses, ventilation and door clearance, because front loaders often need more real space than the listed depth.
Q: What does the 1500rpm spin speed mean in everyday use?
A: A 1500rpm max spin can remove more water than slower 1200rpm machines, which may reduce line-drying or dryer time after washing. The trade-off is that higher spin settings can be less suitable for delicate fabrics on some cycles.
Q: Does this washer need Wi-Fi to work?
A: No. The washer still runs from its electronic controls without Wi-Fi, while Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are for smart features through ConnectLife. That matters in laundries with weak coverage, because wash performance does not rely on internet access.
Q: Does the Hisense HWF5I1215 have auto detergent dosing?
A: No. This model does not have auto dispense, so detergent is added manually for each load. That is worth noting if you want a washer that meters detergent automatically, especially when load sizes and soil levels vary through the week.
Q: Can the door opening be changed on this washer?
A: No. The door is right-hinged and listed as non-reversible, so the opening direction is fixed. Check nearby walls, cabinets or a dryer position before buying, because door swing can affect loading space more than the washer width alone.
Q: What is the steam function useful for on this model?
A: The steam function adds a higher-heat stage within compatible cycles and can help reduce creasing. It does not replace checking garment care labels, because some fabrics and trims are not suited to steam settings.
