Dream machine
This vacuum cleaner is very quiet and does a good job of cleaning the house. It takes a bit of time to get use to get and it’s capabilities. I still have to use the mop mode. I find it goes offline but that could be a problem with our modem. You need to have it close to the modem. Overall I’m very happy with it.

At a glance
The Dreame L40 Plus is a robot vacuum and mop built for mixed-floor homes, especially those with pets. Its standout strengths are 13000Pa suction, HEPA filtration, smart assistant support and a low 9.7cm profile for cleaning under furniture. The large 4L water tank also helps with longer mopping sessions. One limitation is that its 350mL onboard dust capacity may still need regular attention in very dusty homes.

Things to consider
While it offers strong all-round cleaning and mopping, buyers wanting more specialised deep-clean carpet performance or larger onboard dust storage may prefer higher-end or more specialised robot vacuum models.
Pet hair performance score
9/10 - Strong 13000Pa suction and pet-friendly design make it well suited to lifting pet hair from mixed flooring.
Smart home integration score
9/10 - Supports Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit for broad smart home compatibility.
Carpet vs hard floor suitability
Well suited to both carpets and hard floors, with especially versatile performance in mixed-floor homes.
Noise level vs category average
About average for the category - no low-noise specification is listed, so it should be treated as typical for a robot vacuum with strong suction.
Allergy friendliness
Good - HEPA filtration and a bagged system help contain dust and fine particles more effectively than basic non-filtered designs.
Key benefits
- 13000Pa suction: Strong suction helps lift dust, debris and pet hair from hard floors, tiles and carpets.
- Vacuum and mop functions: Handles both dry pickup and mopping so you can cover more of your regular floor-care routine in one device.
- 9.7cm low-profile design: The compact height helps it clean under beds, sofas and other low furniture.
- HEPA filtration: Helps capture fine particles for improved air quality during everyday cleaning.
- 155-minute runtime: Up to 155 minutes of runtime supports larger areas and multi-room cleaning in a single session.
- 4L water tank: The large water tank supports longer mopping sessions before needing a refill.
- Restricted area detection: Lets you set boundaries to help keep the robot out of areas you do not want cleaned.
- Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit support: Gives you flexible voice and smart home control options.
Q: Does the auto-empty dock cut down how often you empty it
A: Yes. The robot collects dirt in a 350mL onboard bin and then empties into the dock's 4L dust bag, so day-to-day emptying is less frequent. In high-shed homes, the onboard bin still fills during cleaning, so it is not a set-and-forget option.
Q: Will the low profile fit under beds and lounge furniture
A: Yes, in many homes. Dreame L40 Plus is 9.7cm high, so it can reach under many beds, sofas and cabinets that block taller robot vacuums. It still needs enough clearance for the top section, so very low frames may remain out of reach.
Q: Is the mopping strong enough for sticky or dried-on messes
A: No, not as a substitute for a manual mop. Dreame L40 Plus is better suited to routine floor wiping and everyday dust than scrubbing stubborn, dried-on spills. Its 4L water tank supports longer mopping sessions, but not heavy grime removal.
Q: How well does it pick up pet hair on carpets
A: Dreame L40 Plus is well suited to pet hair, with 13000Pa suction for lifting hair, dust and debris from carpets as well as hard floors. For heavy shedders, expect routine upkeep rather than a one-pass deep clean every time, especially in busy areas.
Q: Can I set no-go zones around cords or pet bowls
A: Yes. Restricted area detection lets you set cleaning boundaries so the robot avoids selected spots such as pet feeding areas or clutter-prone corners. It is still best to pick up loose cables and small items first, because boundaries do not tidy the floor for it.
Q: Does the HEPA filter help contain fine dust while cleaning
A: Yes. Dreame L40 Plus uses HEPA filtration with a bagged dust system, which helps trap fine particles more effectively than basic non-HEPA designs during normal cleaning. It is still a floor cleaner, not a substitute for dedicated air filtration.
