So easy to use
Love the ability to choose programs throughout the making. Everything is easy to read and understand. The recipes in the book are a good starting point and other recipes are easily adapted the machine. It makes enough to enjoy but not too much that it feels wasteful .

Awesome
Easy to use, great recipes. Lovely gelato flavours. Would like an updated version of recipe book to include sugar free and plant based alternatives as well as egg free.

Average
Bought this Ice Cream maker to replace my 40 year old one which finally died. The new model leaves a lot to be desired as far as performance goes. It certainly has all the bells and whistles which my old one didnt, however the ice cream takes an hour to churn whereas my old one took 35 minutes. The end result of the new model is not as creamy as the old version. All in all I guess its a good product if I did not have anything to compare it with

- Pre-Set Programs: Dedicated settings for sorbet, frozen yoghurt, gelato, and ice cream for consistent results.

Q: Does the Breville Smart Scoop need the bowl pre-frozen before making ice cream?
A: No. The Smart Scoop is a self-refrigerating compressor-style ice cream maker, so the removable bowl does not need overnight pre-freezing like freezer-bowl models. The pre-cool function chills the mixture inside the machine before churning starts.
Q: What do the 12 hardness settings on the Breville Smart Scoop actually change?
A: They change the target firmness of the dessert as it churns, so softer frozen yoghurt and sorbet can stop earlier than denser gelato or ice cream. That helps this model finish closer to a serve-ready texture instead of using one setting for every recipe.
Q: What is the difference between the automatic and manual modes on the Breville Smart Scoop?
A: Automatic mode uses one of the preset dessert settings and stops based on the selected hardness, which suits most everyday batches. Manual mode gives direct control of the process, which is useful when a recipe needs a different texture or finish point.
Q: Can the Breville Smart Scoop keep ice cream cold after churning has finished?
A: Yes. This model has a keep cool function that can hold the finished dessert at serving temperature for as long as 3 hours when that mode is selected. That is useful if serving is delayed, but firmer results still benefit from a short freezer rest.
Q: Is the Breville Smart Scoop suitable for making more than standard ice cream?
A: Yes. It includes settings for sorbet, frozen yoghurt, gelato and ice cream, so it is designed for different dessert styles rather than just one texture. The hardness control is useful when recipes vary in sugar, dairy or fruit content.
Q: How much bench space does the Breville Smart Scoop take up?
A: It measures 41.2 cm wide, 18.2 cm deep and 27.3 cm high, so it has a long, narrow footprint compared with compact freezer-bowl units. The stainless steel housing also makes it heavier and more appliance-like, so many buyers leave it on the bench.
