Asus Zen USB-C & A External Optical Drive
So far, I dawnloaded one CD on to my laptop, which worked well and hope it will last me for a while. The unit box is very, very light and one needs a bit of patience to open and close it.

Bonus software is good
This is the 3rd one I've bought given laptops don't tend to come with optical drives nowadays and even some desktops don't. I've not had any issues with these units including the two I bought as gifts. They look schmick in their brushed silver finish as well. No issues with speed or performance or had no technical issues.

Drive with drive
We have 2 pc’s at home with SSD which are fantastic but I especially, have loads of cd’s and dvd’s, that were all of a sudden not being utilised. I realize there is Spotify etc and other ways of downloading software upgrades without a cd drive. Being the old school cd fanatic I added the Zen optical external drive to my pc and now enjoy the “ old way”of doing the music thing and utilising cd software upgrades. The burner software included is great for me too. All up for me a great piece of equipment for my needs.

Good, but ...
Electronically this does all it claims. However, it does have one problem. That is the absence of any way to position or to mount it. Put it flat on a desk and it tends to over balance as the drawer opens. Thought about Velcro to an upright or overhead on desk but short cables make extensions necessary. Probably fine as a transportable device but not totally satisfactory in a stable environment. I'll say NO as a recommendation because of the mounting issue.
