At a glance
The Asus Vivobook 15 is a mainstream laptop built for students, home users, and professionals who need dependable day-to-day performance. It is well suited to multitasking, document work, web use, and media consumption, with a roomy display and practical storage capacity. Its main trade-off is that it is less portable and typically less premium-feeling than thinner, higher-end ultraportables.

Things to consider
A 15.6-inch mainstream laptop offers comfort and screen space, but it is usually less travel-friendly and less refined than premium lightweight models, and it is not the ideal choice for serious gaming or specialist creative workflows.
Student suitability
High - a strong fit for university and TAFE students needing dependable multitasking, assignment work, research, and everyday portability.
Gaming suitability score
4/10 - suitable for light or casual games, but not aimed at demanding modern AAA gaming compared with dedicated gaming laptops.
Portability rating
6/10 - manageable for commuting, but a 15.6-inch laptop is less convenient to carry daily than smaller 13-inch or 14-inch models.
Battery endurance rating
6/10 - generally suitable for mixed everyday use, though real-world endurance will usually trail premium ultraportables built for all-day mobility.
Pro vs casual fit
Best for casual to mainstream professional use rather than specialist pro workloads.
Key benefits
- 15.6-inch display format: Gives you more room for documents, spreadsheets, and side-by-side windows than smaller laptop sizes.
- Intel Core i7 class performance: Handles everyday multitasking smoothly for work, study, and general home use.
- 16GB memory capacity: Better suited to running multiple apps and browser tabs at once without feeling cramped for typical users.
- 1TB solid-state storage: Provides ample space for files, applications, coursework, and media while keeping everyday access responsive.
- Full-size laptop layout: More comfortable for longer typing sessions, making it a practical fit for assignments, reports, and office tasks.
- Mainstream all-round design: A balanced choice for buyers who want one laptop for work, study, browsing, and entertainment.
- Large-screen everyday usability: Easier to use for video calls, document review, and content viewing than compact ultraportable models.
- Practical value focus: Delivers strong day-to-day capability without needing to step up to a premium business or creator laptop.
Q: Is this Asus Vivobook 15 suitable for study, office work and light creative tasks?
A: Yes. With an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD, it suits multitasking, large documents, web apps and light photo editing. It is better matched to everyday productivity than demanding 3D gaming or heavy video production.
Q: Can the memory be upgraded on this Vivobook 15?
A: Yes. ASUS lists this Vivobook 15 with 16GB DDR4 and one upgradable SO-DIMM slot, so there is some scope to expand memory later. Upgrade limits can vary by exact sub-model and supported module size, so the installed configuration still matters.
Q: Does the 180 degree lay-flat hinge make a practical difference in everyday use?
A: Yes. The 180 degree hinge lets the screen open flat, which is useful for sharing content across a desk, collaborating in class or adjusting viewing angles in tight spaces. It improves flexibility, but it does not turn the laptop into a 2-in-1 tablet.
Q: How useful are the webcam shield and fingerprint sensor on this laptop?
A: They add two practical security features for daily use. The physical webcam shield blocks the camera when not needed, and the touchpad fingerprint sensor allows faster one-touch sign-in. That is more convenient than typing a password every time you unlock it.
Q: Is this Vivobook 15 easy to carry around every day?
A: Yes. ASUS lists it at 1.7kg and 17.9mm thin, so it is portable enough for commuting between home, study and work. It is still a 15.6 inch laptop, which gives more screen space than a 14 inch model but takes up more room in a smaller bag.
Q: What does the quoted fast charging figure mean in real use?
A: ASUS states the battery can reach 60% in 49 minutes under supported charging conditions. That is useful for a quick top-up before heading out, but it does not mean a full recharge in 49 minutes, and charging speed can vary with use while plugged in.
