5 Ways Dyson’s Nurovi is the Smartest Robot Mop Yet

Published Sep 21, 2026 - 6 min read

The Dyson r2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuum pairs Reuleaux triangle mop pads with Twin-capture dust separation and high-speed LiDAR navigation to handle vacuuming and mopping in one pass. This guide runs through the standout features, including a self-cleaning dock that keeps it running hands-free for months.

Key takeaways from this article

  • Reuleaux triangle mop pads reach corners and edges for a near-square clean finish.

  • Twin-capture system and Piezo sensing adjust suction to match dust levels automatically.

  • Self-cleaning dock washes mop pads and empties dust for up to 90 days hands-free.

  • High-speed LiDAR navigation dodges obstacles and climbs thresholds up to 40mm high.

  • Nick Trajkovski (The Good Guys Buyer, Floorcare) suggests it for pet owners and hard floors.

Know the feeling of flying out the door in the morning rush, leaving behind a trail of toast crumbs and milk sploshes? Imagine if you had a robot vacuum and mop that you could trust to have it all sorted by the time you got home. With the innovative Dyson r2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuum, that could be your reality.

“At Dyson, we’ve always been focused on solving everyday cleaning challenges through engineering and innovation, and we’re excited to continue that with the new Dyson Nurovi range,” says a Dyson spokesperson.

With features including Reuleaux triangle mopping pads, Piezo dust sensing, high-speed LiDAR scanning and the Twin-capture system, this is the next-gen Dyson robot vacuum that makes short work out of everyday floorcare. Here are 5 reasons it’s the floorcare expert you need at your place.

1. No more missed spots with Reuleaux triangle pads

Let’s start with the biggest and arguably most helpful new innovation included in the Dyson r2 Nurovi Wash+Dry Robot Vacuum. We all know mess rarely settles neatly in the middle of the floor – instead, it hugs your baseboards and wedges into corners, so Dyson has introduced rounded, triangular mop pads.

“We redesigned our mop pads around the Reuleaux triangle,” explains a Dyson spokesperson. For the non-geometrists among us, that’s a curved, triangular shape that maintains a constant width in every direction.

“The triangular pads … move in a precise eccentric pattern, creating a near-square cleaning finish that gets right into corners … delivering greater edge cleaning coverage compared to conventional designs,” the spokesperson adds.

That means no more spot checks! Thanks, Dyson.

2. Smarter cleaning with the Twin-capture system and Piezo dust sensing

Every room in the house comes with a different type of mess, from dust in the living room to dropped food in the kitchen. With Dyson’s new Twin-capture system, Nurovi robot vacuums can separate fine and coarse particles as it cleans, so you’re getting an A+ job regardless of the room you’re in.

“The system uses bristles on the brush bar to mechanically sweep larger debris directly into the machine, while the vacuum motor focuses on capturing fine dust and smaller particles,” a Dyson spokesperson says.

Plus, with Piezo dust sensing in auto mode, the Dyson r2 Nurovi Wash+Dry can detect changes in dust levels as it works and adjust its suction power to match. By using high power only when needed, the vacuum saves on battery and runs longer.

The triangular pads … move in a precise eccentric pattern, creating a near-square cleaning finish that gets right into corners. This enables the mop pads to maximise contact with edges and corners, delivering greater edge cleaning coverage compared to conventional designs.

3. Hands-free maintenance with self-cleaning mop pads and a self-emptying dock

For busy households, a robot vacuum that needs constant babysitting defeats the purpose. The Dyson r2 Nurovi Wash+Dry handles its own dirty work for up to 90 days, making it an absolute floorcare game changer.

Once docked, the station hygienically extracts wastewater and washes the mop pads in 75°C water before drying them with 45°C hot air to prevent mould and odours. Simultaneously, eight Dyson cyclones on the self-emptying dock pull dust and debris out of the vacuum, separating it into micro-particles to maximise bin capacity – so, you rarely have to lift a finger. Now that’s hands-free!

4. Better navigation with high-speed LiDAR

A robot vacuum is only as smart as how well it moves through your home. Thanks to high-speed LiDAR, the Nurovi dodges stray toys in real time while tracking down to the millimetre to hug walls and squeeze into tight spaces. It can even scale raised thresholds up to 40mm high. The result? Far fewer bumps, zero getting stuck, and a faster clean that doesn’t waste time retreading the same spots.

5. Easy pet clean-up with an anti-tangle brush bar

For homes with pets, an anti-tangle brush bar is a must-have feature. It means less time spent pulling hair out by hand and more consistent cleaning performance between maintenance checks. The anti-tangle side sweeper even extends to 27mm to clean into edges, corners and hard-to-reach areas.

You can also set up no-go zones and do-not-disturb times to keep your vacuum out of pet areas or, if needed, to avoid having it operate when nervous pets are home alone.

Which automatic vacuum cleaner is best?

The best robot vacuum cleaner really depends on what your household needs,” says Nick Trajkovski, The Good Guys Buyer – Floorcare.

“If what you’re after is a cleaner that can vacuum and mop, clean close to edges, manage pet hair and clean itself after, the Dyson r2 Nurovi Wash+Dry robot vacuum is a no-brainer.

“Got lots of carpet and no need for a robot mop? The Dyson r1 Nurovi Robotic Vacuum has all the latest Dyson vacuum tech packed in at a cheaper price.”
