Excellent Energy Savings & Massive Capacity, Just Get Used to the Heat Pump Pace
Upgrading to the Westinghouse 9kg Heat Pump Dryer has been an absolute game-changer for handling large family laundry loads, especially when dealing with heavy bedding, towels, and endless kids' clothes. The Pros: Outstanding Energy Efficiency: With an 8-star energy rating, the power consumption drop is incredibly noticeable compared to a traditional vented or condenser dryer. It runs incredibly cheap (consuming roughly 152 kWh/year), which takes the guilt out of running daily cycles. No More Sauna Laundry: Because it recycles heat and pumps the condensed water away (either into the tank or straight down the drain if plumbed), it releases zero humidity into the room. No more foggy windows or damp walls. Fabric Care & Features: The SenseDry technology and auto-sensing actually work. Clothes come out feeling soft and fluffy rather than completely baked or shrunken. The internal drum light is a fantastic touch for catching stray socks, and the reverse tumbling action does a solid job of keeping sheets from rolling into a giant, damp ball. Sleek Aesthetic: The metallic grey/onyx finish looks premium and modern compared to the standard appliance-white boxes. The Cons: Cycle Times: As is typical with heat pump technology, it dries at a lower, gentler temperature, meaning cycles take longer than traditional vented models. Expect a full load of heavy fabrics to take a bit of patience. Learning Curve: You do need to play around with the dryness settings (Cupboard Dry vs. Extra Dry) initially to figure out what works best for your specific mixed loads so things don't finish with a hint of dampness. Overall, it’s a robust, reliable, and incredibly economical machine that easily keeps up with high-volume household demands.

Highly impressed with our new Heat Pump Dryer
Best decision to purchase Westinghouse 9Kg heat pump dryer. Highly impressed with this Great machine for what magic it does. This is our first ever heat pump and both me & my wife are already in love with it. Extra anti crease option is too good along with Metallic Grey color of dryer and light in drum that makes it stand out from other dryers in the market. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a new heat pump.

Happy with the 9kg Westinghouse heat pump dyer.
I’ve been really happy with the Westinghouse 9kg heat pump dryer. The 9kg capacity is fantastic — perfect for family-sized loads and bulky items like towels and bedding. It fits comfortably in the laundry without feeling oversized, and the overall build feels solid and well-made. The biggest win is energy efficiency. Compared to our old-style dryer, this one uses noticeably less power, which is a huge bonus with rising electricity costs. It dries clothes gently but effectively, and fabrics come out in great condition. The only downsides are typical of heat pump dryers. Drying cycles do take longer than a traditional vented dryer, and you do need to empty the water tank if it’s not plumbed in. That said, both are small trade-offs considering the energy savings and performance. Overall, this dryer is quiet, efficient, spacious, and economical to run. If you’re upgrading from an older dryer and want something better for your power bills and clothes, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended if you don’t mind slightly longer drying times.

Key benefits
- Heat Pump Drying: Dries clothes more gently at lower temperatures to help care for everyday fabrics.
- 9kg Capacity: Handles larger household loads, including towels, bedding and bigger mixed washes.
- SensorDry: Monitors moisture and stops when the selected dryness level is reached to help avoid over-drying.
- Reverse Tumbling: Helps reduce tangling and supports more even drying across different fabric types.
- 8 Star Energy Rating: Delivers strong energy performance for a full-size dryer under the Australian star rating system.
- 152kWh Estimated Annual Energy Consumption: Helps keep running costs lower than many less efficient dryer types.
- Freestanding Design: Gives flexible placement options in a wide range of laundry layouts.
- Stackable Design: Makes it easier to pair with a matching washing machine when floor space is limited.
Q: Does this heat pump dryer need an external vent or duct?
A: No. Westinghouse WDH904N7SA is a heat pump dryer, so it removes moisture by condensing it rather than sending damp air through a wall vent. That makes placement more flexible in a laundry, provided the space still has basic airflow around the unit.
Q: Are drying cycles longer on the Westinghouse WDH904N7SA?
A: Yes. Westinghouse WDH904N7SA uses lower-temperature heat pump drying, so cycles are usually longer than a conventional high-heat dryer. The trade-off is gentler fabric care and lower energy use, rather than the fastest possible finish time.
Q: Can this 9kg dryer handle towels, sheets and bedding well?
A: Yes. The 9kg drum suits family loads, including towels, sheets and many bedding items, and reverse tumbling helps large pieces dry more evenly. Very bulky items still need enough room to move, so overpacking can slow drying and increase bunching.
Q: Will SensorDry stop clothes from being over-dried?
A: Yes. SensorDry checks moisture levels and ends the cycle when the selected dryness level is reached, which helps avoid unnecessary extra drying. Mixed loads can still finish unevenly if heavy fabrics and light fabrics are dried together.
Q: Is this dryer a good option for apartments or compact laundries?
A: Yes. Westinghouse WDH904N7SA is freestanding and stackable, so it suits laundries where floor space is limited. Its heat pump design also avoids the need for a wall vent, which is useful where venting options are restricted.
Q: Does reverse tumbling stop sheets and towels tangling together?
A: It helps, but it does not eliminate tangling completely. Reverse tumbling changes drum direction to loosen items and improve even drying, though fitted sheets and large towels can still bunch together if the load is tightly packed.
Q: Is the 8 star rating meaningful for everyday running costs?
A: Yes. Westinghouse WDH904N7SA has an 8 star energy rating, which generally means lower running costs than other 9kg dryers with a lower rating. It is a strong fit for households that use the dryer often and want lower energy use over time.
